We always just called him taves here, people didnt refer to him as Jon or jonathan or anything like that just last names, at least when i've been around him.

Maybe it is Tays, but the 2 are so alike when said it doesnt even matter anyways.

Amazing goal from an amazing guy. He pulled sick goals off all the time when I would see him play here in winnipeg, and he's a super good and level headed guy in person. That guy deserves all the praise in the world I've never watched a game in person and seen more passion for the game then when I would watch him.

I remember at Program of Excellence tryouts one of my buddies was on an intersquad team with him and said he cried after the game because he never scored, this was when we were 13 though, but still if you get that worked up about hockey you sure must love it.

Van Riemsdyk's goal is definitely nice, but it's beating one far lesser defenseman rather than 3 NHL players including Scott Hannan. It looks slo-mo compared to Toews's. That move is fairly easy to do for a skilled player like him. Toews speed on his goal was unreal and his hands just as fast. He did lose the puck for a second, but his recovery was amazing. I hate it when people post "I do that in my sleep" because the reality of it is, for most of us, that is the only place we ever will do that kind of crap is when we are dreaming. Don't compare bear league, midget AAA or even Junior hockey to the show. I sometimes catch myself saying..."I can do that" and then I realize that even if I can, its with far less speed against far lesser players far less consistently than the pros. Wake up folks, that was an insane goal that very few in the NHL could ever pull off.
