Bob Gainey in NY tonight

Recommended Posts

I didn't see it, but according to the Habs Forum BG was at the NYR/Pens game tonight.

So...anyone know anything? Or, heard any new rumours?

Ha...From what I hear Mon is deep with D-men (I can't even validate that). NYR could use a d-man. Well, actually we need chemistry

Pens are looking for another good goaltender, Halak maybe. I don't see Montreal trading anyone on their roster right now, the only ones who aren't playing right now are Murray, Kostitsyn and Georges and I don't see the habs trading anyone of them at this moment.

why would a team trade players who are scratched and looked at as worthless rather then players who are playing well and gaining some value? (just throwing this out there, but like huet? thats a long shot, so, ill go with ryder instead as an example)

Well I just read a report that Pock was put on waivers and that Slats is dangling Jagr for a potential trade. He only has 1 year left, and well, the team sucks right now.

And the Habs might be interested in Avery from what Eklund is reporting? Ok yeah they do need that kind of a player, but I'm not sure Avery would be fit for Montreal.

I saw Aves and Shanny outside The Garden tonight. Avery looks up to Shanny so much. Aves was signing autographs and Shanny was like "Sean, let's go!" And the both strutted off to 8th Avenue, got a hotdog and got in a cab.

Aves is goin nowhere.

Apparently Gainey was there to have a look at Jagr, oh boy.

At this point in his career do you really need to 'have a look' at Jaromir Jagr? I mean, I think you know what you are getting.

I can't imagine the Rangers would be so stupid as to trade away Jagr so soon into the season after blowing all that money on Drury and Gomez.

Jagr for Kovalev? I do not think this would help either team.

I don't think that would help either team either. I would like to see the Habs pick up Jagr for Ryder and Latendresse or something like that, but I think that's probably a pipe dream as the French public would go crazy if Gainey traded away Latendresse. Personally I'd rather see Kostitsyn get in the lineup more (trading away Latendresse would allow for that) and having Jagr as your top winger (as long as he's motivated to play) is an upgrade over Ryder. Higgins Koivu Jagr and then Kostitsyn Plekanec Kovalev or Graboski Plekanec Kovalev would improve the Canadiens up front. For the Rangers it would give them a solid 30 goal man in Ryder who's younger than Jagr and likely has more years left and a big young player with potential in Latendresse...I just think Latendresse is a little over rated (although he's still pretty young so perhaps it would be a mistake giving him up so early).

Since Montreal is so deep in goal it's more likely they'd move Halak or Danis than Latendresse, but I could definitely see Ryder being part of any deal.

Jagr will not be traded for Kovalev. After that piece of human waste, Slats, had the Canadian Team Firesale of Rangers players, Kovy made a statement that he would never play in New York again (while Slats was there). Leetch made a similar statement, and we saw how that worked out..

I don't doubt teams are interested in Jags though.
