WTF?! Hockey shops in WA, TX, MI, CO, etc. etc. will do a length or toecap stretch. But here in the State of Hockey, no takers on the job.

"You can't stretch a plastic cap, ya know."

No go on Dave's. They don't have the equipment to stretch lengthwise. They suggested a shoe repair place.

Still searching....

I have a weird situation:

1) Hockey shop says I don't have wide feet especially not in CCM/RBK howevern my small toe always feels pressure.

What gives?

It could be your foot pronating. If your foot rolls to the inside it can cause your small toe to roll up which can make a skate feel too small. When you step down does your ankle roll to the inside and your arch collapse. If it does try some Superfeet or some other kind of insole with good arch support. It can help with many fitting issues.

If I could hi- jack this thread for a second, If a new skate is not exactly cramming the toes but is a bit too snug, how much space will normal break in

provide? I am talking specifically about a pair of Graf Ultra G35's I just bought. They have a lot of ankle padding so I am hoping there is enough room back there to absorb the pencil width of space I need to make the boot a perfect fit. Based on some of the problems the G series has had I don't want to stretch the skate. I bought the skates sized like this hoping to be a little tight when new and perfect after break-in. Thanks for any help.

Chadd told me about 1/4 size up depending on the boot, you want your toes to feather the toe cap but not digging in.

Thanks for that info !! A 1/4 size would be perfect.

Ok played drop in with them tonight, and my problem is in the very corner of the boot where my big toe goes, because the boot starts to narrow right there, anything i can do about this, heat?

I used to have the same problem with my Mission L7 (9) and 10k's (8.5). It helped when I got some small squares of hockey tape and wrapped my offending toe in it. Stopped the nail from being pulled up (which I lost inevitably) as well as rubbing and jarring from impacts. I recently switched to a pair of Vapor XX in a 9, the best fitting skates I've ever had. Especially in the toe box.
