ashtonhutch05 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 I'm just curious as to what they are. I searched but couldn't find it. They look like Nike Quest V-somethings but I'm not sure. Also, lately I've been having trouble keeping my shots down. They have been high and just seem to flutter. I'm using a Kovalev and Draper pattern, the Draper is okay but the Kovy is the worst. Would you suggest something less open, and what?
mack 44 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Skates: Haven't seen a pic this year but the last few years he'd had Vapor 10s dressed up as other skates. For your shot: Roll your wrists over.

ashtonhutch05 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Thanks Mack, that makes sense that I couldn't figure out what they were then. They were dressed up as Quests from what I can see on the back..And okay, thats what I had heard but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks a lot.
mack 44 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Just don't use a curve or anything else as a crutch to change your shot. Don't get sucked into the "What curve will raise my shot?" threads.
ashtonhutch05 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Okay, thanks for the heads up. As you can see, I was beginning to be sucked in.
Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 On the other hand.... while Mack is right (about not letting hype get into your head) borrow a buddy's stick that has a different curve (say, something Modano-ish: a nuetral blade with less curve and/or open face) and see if it helps. Lots of pro's switch when they get a hitch in their gitty-up (so to speak). Also, generically speaking, if you're launching into the stratosphere typically it means too much follow through. Try to keep the follow-thru to no higher than your knee caps and you'll likely notice a difference. A lot of times as folks try to power thru their shots to get more velocity they scrape the ceilings for that power without realizing that they're still under the puck and will also send it up and over.Just my 2 cents. hockey is life... 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 I use a Sakic and that was happening to me as well. It can be because you aren't rolling your wrists over or it is due to droping your shoulders and arms so that you get down low and have a semi-high follow through. Leafsrok 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 there have been many topics about Kovys skates, next time try searching.
ashtonhutch05 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 I did search. I tried Kovalchuk, and Kovalchuk's skates. I don't know what else I would try. All I found was that they were nike/bauer, which I already knew. I didn't see "plenty of topics" whatsoever.
