warrior buys montreal hockey?

Recommended Posts

I would first ask "why?" and then wonder why it hasn't been mentioned here on the boards if it were remotely true. It may be, who knows what Warrior does with its money, but it makes absolutely no sense to me.

Well, it would get them into the goalie (stick) business in a big way but that's the only positive that I can think of.

Montreal has a pretty respectable use base at the NHL level. Just a guess but I would think that it would be cheaper to buy Montreal than actually develop their own product and get it in the hands of the pros. Retail wasn't really my focus, the pro market was.

It was also the only reason I could think of that would justify the rumour. I didn't/don't believe it to be likely.

I'm sure that if Warrior wanted to come out with a composite one piece goal stick, they would. Remember, they own their own factory.

Also, Montreal's share in goal sticks is small when compared to CCM/RbK and SWD. TPS still sells a crapload of goal sticks, as do NBH.

In addition to sticks, Montreal has a very successful line of pro-grade goalie equipment in Europe. I've never handled the stuff, but I've heard it's probably the best available over there: head and shoulders above Miklin.

This may be Warrior's move into goalie equipment in general. If their approach to player gear is anything to go by, we won't see anything other than pads, gloves and sticks - maximum visibility pieces.

Maybe a $200 jock.

If they do this, Warrior will be skates away from being the turkey of the hockey industry. Turkey pastrami; turkey bacon; turkey hot dogs. Insert Mitch Hedberg quote here.

this is actually kind of ridiculous. it seems like Warrior (new balance) is buying every small time hockey company out there

its not a bad thing having many smaller companies because a smaller company I think would have better quality control in there own factory plus they just need to focus on a select number of things
