Graf Skates

Recommended Posts

If you use the search funtion you should be able to find quite a bit of information about Grafs. There are even some opinions of the great whites.

i love grafs. i believe they've helped me become a faster skater since i'm more on my toes in them. i've read that a lot of ppl don't care for the cobra holders but i've had no problems with mine at all except for the bolt in the back of the holder for the blades which would come lose now and then, but my pops fixed it up with some lock-tight i think, and she stays pretty tight now.

as for the great whites, i'm not sure if they sell them retail or if you have to get them customly done. i think my lhs said they were getting the 502's in great whites with t-blades i believe, but i'm not sure

I like them. My only real complaints are the toebox being so small and the fact that they soften up more than most skates once they get wet.

Thats the same opinion I have about my 703's... and i even like the toebox being small, or i would call it shallow, you feel like its hugs your hole feet all the way to the front unlike bauers where i can move my feet up and down freely.....

Only one thing i might add, Unlike Bauer or CCM etc, Graf customer service is the worst of any companie I ever seen ( I'm Not only talking hockey companies) If you buy them, make sure they are not defective or something cause unlike the other companies that just replace the pair, Graf will give you the runaround... they even have holder alignment clinics for the hockey stores to fix there fuckups... Like WTF is that

I like my graf 703s. I've been skating in them for over a year now and there still in pretty good condition but there starting to get soft, and they do soak up water. As for the great white, you have to order them from graf or through your LHS. I believe it costs an extra $100-$150 for the great whites though, which I think is a waste. You can also get tec lite on the 700 series for an extra $50 which I wish I would have done. Right now I am trying to decide whether I should get another pair of grafs or vapor XX's, untill the I get the synergy skates.

i agree with you djinferno with the customer service with grafs, although i haven't had any run ins with it yet. my brother had a pair of 502's and they broke down on him in a month or sumthing like that, and it took us nearly half a yr to get graf to settle the whole thing out

Grafs are by far the most durable and comfortable skates I have ever worn. After a year of probably close to 80 games and a hundred plus hours of practice they are just now going soft. Only complaint I have is once in a while I get a little pain in the sides of my arch. Not the arch itself but the middle sides of my feet.

funny, i also get that at times, i think its the wax laces not giving if you ram em to tight at the begining

Maybe, unfourtanetly I'm hooked on the waxed ones now and I love tight skates.

One thing I forgot to mention is I hate the Cobras they never hold a sharpen in the winter for more than maybe two hours. I'm looking into using a credit on a pair of tuuks.

i think my cobras hold their edge quite well, but i still get my skates sharpened at least once a week...usually b4 every game. i can let practices slide

i like cobras because they are stiffer then tuuks, and come standard at 11 ft, so i dont have to mess with them. but the steal does get messed up pretty fast

Is there a place that you could preview wht the model will look like as a great white, or is it pritty much a blind buy? Also what is the advantage to the tech-light?

Just curious, how many of you that use Graf skates are over 6'1" or 6'2" ? I am 6'3" and feel they are cut lower than Bauers, etc. as far as the fit. Shorter players may not tell the difference but when you are taller I think you can.

how much longer would it take to get a skate in great whites, and how long with the $50 tech-lite upgrade? Also can you do both on the same skate?
