help in choosing skates?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I juste came back from purehockey.

I try on all the skates I like

ONE 90 / S15 / Synergy 1500c

ALL of them fits/feels really great and Comfortable on my foot. (nothing suprising coming from old broke tack 952)

But I really can't decide witch pair to get.

I like the look of the 1500C

I like the holder of the ONE90

I like the technology of the S15

The solution would be S15 with LSP but according to the LHS it can't be done due to the length.

So can you help me to choose?

Thanks

VD

PS: Forgive my bad english

Those skates are fairly different from each other. You're sure they all fit great? None of them fit more snug than the others?

they all fit fairly differently. If One90's fit you good, then i would suggest getting them, and replacing the holder with an LS2. also look into Graf's.

Easton isn't generally known for their skates

what?

hi

Obviously they all fit diferent but none hurt my feet when I'm in the right size. The guy at the LHS also said that it will be completely different if he bake them for me.

On this board you didn't seem to appreciate Easton-skate. Myself I never have some easton. But I have to admit that compare to NBH they are very well made (the finishing, the boot's Assembly,...). The only problem is the criticized blade's holders but maybe they will be good enough for me (someone compared it to the Prolite 3?)

I used to skate on graf 709 with TUCK+ (really great skate, probably the best I owned) but they always hurt my feet a little :( Graf skates have always been known for having a very specific fit with your feet tilted towards forward.

One 90 : I really like the skate but they really don't look well made at all. What is confirmed with the several pics of broken one90 boots...

OK... here's my little tangent for today.

There was a time when skates were not baked.

Heating and molding a skate serves only one purpose... to expedite the break in process.

Go with the comfortable skate (and fit).

I owned several pair since I play hockey : ccm 101 (and all that stuff when I was a kid) bauer supreme 3000, graf 501, graf 709, micronmega 10-50, tacks 952 ...

The unique pair I bake was the tacks 952 and it honestly didn't change a single thing in fitting except soften my boot and make it looked crumpled but now I think Baking is quite up to scratch and boots are designed with baking in mind.

VD in love

That's exactly to what a hockey boot must look like in my mind

About the holder and the blade do you think the LPS2 is not as good as my old Prolite 3?

The Easton skate you mentioned is a great skate and I'm not sure why you're getting the idea that people compare the Easton holder with the older ProLite3? Also, just because some people have had trouble with a skate doesnt mean all across the board the One90 has been a problematic skate. Isolated incidents, poor care and fit contribute to a lot of skate breakdowns. I'm sure someone like Chadd or JR could tell you about mounting a Tuuk Custom + or Tuuk LSP2 holder to the S15 skate. I would imagine you'd be able to do so.

Here's the thing Vathsdrop. All the skates you mentioned seem to fit you very well. Therefore fit isn't an issue here. The only issue seems to be the blade holder and the skate you seem to like. I would go with the skate you have your heart set on and live with the holder on it. If in the future it fails you can replace it with the holder you like. It shouldn't be a problem for your LHS to do. The reason I say this is because I have two pairs of Easton skates both with the Razor Bladz II on them, the 1300C's and the Synergy 1100's. I have had no holder or blade problems with either and yes I have taken shots off of them. I've had the 1300's for over two years and the 1100's for over a year and a half and I'm very satisfied with both. So get the ones you like and enjoy them.

epstud74>I know. Some isolated case doesn't state for the masses. (Is there any english in that sentence?)

Ok guys I think I'm gonna go with the 1500c (cheaper than the 2 others), try them on the ice and if I don't like the LPS 2 I will probably slap a Tuck LSx on it.

Moreover with LS on it the skate looks even better

Vathsdrop, I jumped from the Graf 709 to the One90 due to some serious foot pain as well. I switched the holder form LS2P to LS2, It took I'd say 5-8 skates to get a real good feel. I love them now, I'd suggest the One90 with LS2, Just coming from a former Graf to a NBH guy.
