If you're still interested in doing it, one of my buddies dyed the holders on his Easton 1300 skates black. They look great and the dye seems to have soaked in to the holder(kept color through a season of midget18AA play). The only mistake he made was not leaving them in the dye quite long, leaving them a very dark blue.

He used this page for instructions: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa38...907/ai_n8867845.

As far as I'm concerned, once you're talking about a foreign substance having been "soaked into the holder," you're also asking for problems - especially when the substance in question is based in hot water.

Both were done using a liquid dye similar to the RIT in warm (not hot) water. The main point is to have them submerged in the dye for at least an hour. That lets the color go deep into the plastic so the white doesn't show with minor cuts. SO far, I've done about 20 pairs and haven't had any problems with the integrity of the holder or premature breakdown.

But im not sure how to take the Holders off my Pitch3s. I was just looking for tips to cover up the boot. I can take the steel out VERY easily.

Have heard that RIT chips off.

its not indestructible its just dye that barely seeps into the plastic. The only way for the dye not to chip is to get the holders made in that color plastic which wont happen.
