Quick pitch question for the skate professionals

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of my Vector 10SEs that I want to setup just like my Vapor XXXXs. I play a lot of defense and I want to be on my heels just like the XXXXs do out of the box. What would I have to do to the pitch of the Vector 10SEs? I got a guy out in Syracuse that does really good profiling and pitch work, so I need some help to guide him with what I am looking for.

Thanks a bunch!

take 1/32 of an inch of steel off the heel of the skate, done on a crossgrinder to simulate the heel pitch felt with bauer boots. CCM boots have a slight forward pitch.

thats what i thought. so how is the blade profile kept using a cross grinder? i feel stupid when it comes to this stuff because i live in texas and none of the lhs's offer this type service. i've thought about sending my runners by mail to a shop up north for this type work.

The skate professional will take the cross grinder (perpendicular to the blade grinding wheel) and will remove 1/32" from the heel and transition the removal of metal to the midfoot of the blade. After the initial removal of the material, they will then go with a typical sharpening wheel and sharpen the blade.

Usually the profile is done at same time as the pitch is changed, immediately after. The profile will likely be screwed up if a crossground pitch alone is just made.
