Modano/Forsberg curve, but with a higher lie?

Recommended Posts

I really like the modano curve, but i cant get used to the lower lie.

I tried adding a plug to get a longer stick, but my stickhandling got very bad and i had to ditch my ST's..

I'm now looking for a curve similar to the modano but with a higher lie (5,5 or higher).. I tried the pattern database but it didn't help very much.

So, is there any retail modano clones with higher lie or do i have to go custom/pro-stock..

The Boyes curve by mission is a similiar curve with a 5.5 lie. It doesnt curve as much and it has a little more toe rocker. They offer two types of replacement blades, a zed core and one with their vibration dampening system. Unfortunately, the latter is a 60 dollar blade, but I have had a very good experience with them.

get a warrior federov curve. they come in lies 4, 5 and 6. the 4 lie is actually about the same as the other manufacturer's 5 lie, so 5 and 6 are higher than you'd think. there are also lots of pro stock's i've seen similar modano but higher lie. i see them all the time at my lhs's but i don't remember the names.

Warrior 5 is barely less than an Easton 6

the Fuel and Vhex series sticks will have a slightly higher lie than the Easton Modano/Forsberg. NOTE: THE NEW MISSION STICKS-- FUEL Ti Pro, FUEL Ti, PYRO will have an EXACT same lie as the Easton Modano/Forsberg.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought the older bauer PM9s had a lie of 6

That's what Bauer said, but it wasn't true.

yeah, you'll still find tables online that say 6, but its a mistake. the pm9 actually has a slightly lower lie than easton forsberg 5.

when you say its slightly lower would you agree that its about .25 lower because ive been using the pm9 and i need something a touch higher so that may work out. I always thought that the pm9 was an exact clone of the modano/forsberg

i don't know about the actual number but .25 is a good guess. i use modano/forsberg/federov/pm9/etc... i am also pretty sensitive to changes in blade lie. although i have noticed that eastons forsberg has a slightly higher lie than pm9, it is VERY minimal. it is so minimal that i don't have to get used to the difference. i think you would need something else, something a little higher than easton forsberg but i may be wrong.

if arent too fussy, you can use some epoxy at the heel of the blade, and build a slightly thicker layer there to change the lie of the stick. Once the epoxy sets, just use it in the driveway to puck handle a while to get rid of some of the access buildup, and you should be ok after that...

I did that before on my sherwood leclair curves... loved the curve, but the lie was just too low for me.
