RussianPlayer 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Hi guys,Well, as I have started skating/playing since last year - I have progressed a lot. However, I still have a weird issue with my skates. I started with CCM e60, which kinda pressed on my inside ankles and created discomfort. I would have a "net" on my inside ankles from even a CCM oxysock.Meaning there was so much pressure on them and they would be red sore. I had to buy gel discs, when I would use them - I would not have any issues.I moved into CCM Vector 10se, which was a nice difference in terms of lightness and those skates are more stiff. I did not bake them and I already had over 25 hours of skating in them for sure. If I don't use gel discs I get pain into ankles and same red sore "net" effect on them. It just stamps sock into my skin way hard.I notices that in both boots my front sides of the inside ankles are kind close to top 3 laces holes and tongue ends cover them. I think that's one of the reasons it presses that hard through the areas where it's half covered with a tongue.I'm thinking the ankle should be a little further back then it would not push that way. Outside ankles are fine. Maybe I should find a different boot? I tried Bauer Vapors - they seem to have same thing... Anyone else run into same issue? Thanks. Joshua 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I had something like that and it really hurts, I stopped playing until it disapeared. It's probably how you lace your skates, try something different or looser near this area. Maybe lace them looser and tape your ankles?
krwwc6 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Arnt the current line of mission skates made to address this issue? as in the inside eyelets on the top of the skate are actually a few cm's forward compared to the outside eyelets.Someone with more skate knowledge should probably chime in. RussianPlayer 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Thanks for responses, guys.I will look into maybe loosing them up a bit, but taping ankle considering not really stable, in my opinion they will get out of the wrap easy due to pressure.I may give it a try, why not.Never heard about new mission skates. I should check into it.Yes, hopefully will hear more opinions soon. Thanks again.
ktang 34 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 My ankles also fit into my skates the same way. I have 8090s, so every few times I press the padding / gel back towards the eyelets to renew the comfort.

Thanks again.AG Skates have an ASYMMETRICAL cuff for the reasons you mentioned-- look at your ankle-- each side is different and the AG is designed to best work with how your ankle works. the result is the best forward flex and ankle articulation. i believe that we have some videos on the Mission website that has Sargy talking about the benefits of the AG Skate. i have DVD podcasts as well if you want one, but i believe they are all up on the site. Sniper#39 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I have a similar issue from a previous injury.I can tell you that I (just last week) tried on no less than 8 different skates from just about every manufacturer and short of some surgery on the tongue of a Graf 709 to relieve some pressure the only skate that felt comfortable was the Mission AG series. RussianPlayer 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Thanks for responses. I will look into Mission AGs.I saw those pod casts. Hopefully mission AG will do it better for me.what's the main difference between Vector 10 se and AG 120?Are they same light as vector? I couldnt find weight specs on AGs.Also, what's the main difference between 120 and 100 modles? Maybe I should be fine with just 100s?Thanks.
Hockeydog 8 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I had an even worse condition with a Graf Ultra G35. Top 2 eyelets on the outside of ankle were almost behind the ankle. It was very hard to even lace them at the top. Current skate is a Easton Synery 800c that fits me very close to your photo.
MLSman 22 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I see the same thing in your pictures that I have in my skates. You see the top corners of the liner wearing away? Is that happening to others? I have the same thing happening to my XXXXs and it used to happen to my Vector 10s.
