With the recent goings on with the leafs and how many people are extremely disapointed with the organization, sitting in 14th now, I want to bring up (as many others have) that Hockey Night in Canada should rotate between Leafs, Sens and Habs games. I've got to see my team more often lately with TSN, but ive had to grow up living in southern ontario always gettin stuck with the leafs. With the Sens now in 1st and the Habs not doin too bad either I think it's time for Hockey Night in "Canada" to give up the Hockey Night in "Toronto" act. I wanted to know anyone elses opinion on this.

I agree, it's ridiculous, CBC used to show Toronto playing IN New Jersey instead of the senators or habs at home.

uh, they still would do that.

Toronto is the biggest draw, regardless of how crappy they are...it ain't gonna change.

I agree that Toronto is the Big Market but I think the game itself should be picked other than the team. I also agree with it always been this way but their ratings are starting to turn and I think this would bring it up again, look at football when the pats were taking off, they pulled reg. scheduled games to broadcast better ones (and monday night football isn't monday night in dallas, its spread out). If it never happens I think someone like TSN shoud do more canadian saturday nights, I like their broadcasts more and more nowadays anyway (except Healy)

With the number of cable & sat. services and people who now have a time shifting option...I'd love to see more split network games...or a CBC Alternate (the way TSN does sometimes).

A lot of the time, CBC Montreal doesn't even carry Habs games.

Yeah I also like that idea, granted they find enough decent broadcastors. Yeah I haven't even seen a french game on cbc for a while now

CBC Montreal is English. RDS carries the French games.

I have RDS, so I can watch the Habs anytime. However, it does bother me that they don't mix it up more often for the early game on CBC. Why don't they just have the Laffs game on in the GTA every week and then rotate between Leafs, Sens and Habs for everyone else. They'll probably still get the same ratings. I know here in Vancouver there are just as many habs fans as leafs fans, if not more. Actually a lot of Sens fans too now as they are such an exciting team to watch. The late game is always pretty fair as it seems to rotate between the three western Canadian teams.

The only problem with that is that there are habs fans in the GTA lol. Thats why I don't like the local thing, there are fans of all teams al over the place, but I understand the bandwagon in Toronto needs to be fed. I just think if they have one game getting the mass viewing (like u stated about the west coast switching) the ratings wwould be more and u could get more ad money blah blah blah, i just think its time for a change and adopt the west coast way of things

NHL Centre Ice. Problem solved.

I'm talking about the nationwide broadcast, with all the bigshots and coaches corner.

Again, NHL Centre Ice. Unless there is a specific item that I want to see I rarely if ever watch the intermission portion of a telecast.

Sidenote: Coach's Corner may just be the most overrated segment on television.

I prefer the hotstove reports with actual reporters, not the crap with PJ.

Davidson was good, Strachan and the other guy were bums though.

Strachan is an idiot!

There were a number of decent guys in the rotation, though I agree about Strachan.

What, you don't like the shit eating smirk Strachan has on his face at all times?

Complete asshole, I can't stand him.

CBC in general I think does a very strong job broadcasting HNIC, the camera work is first rate, they were leaders in HD, I love the intro's and everything, it manages to just be slightly cheesy but endearing at the same time. The whole experience of watching a hockey game on Saturday night on the CBC is just something I find to be essentially 'Canadian'.

And Coach's Corner is not overrated. Cherry is like the Canadian John Madden...except he spares us from actually trying to broadcast a whole game.

That doesn't really help you, Madden is a pathetic assclown. I have no idea why Madden still has a job.
