BigDipper 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2008 I don't know where you are but I know that where I'm from in Halifax, Nova Scotia, there is several stores that still had models up until recently. My buddy manages one and I know them and a couple other stores still had some floating around. I can get a phone number and a contact for you. Won't promise you anything but it's worth a try. Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted January 26, 2008 I have seen the later ash veneer on ebay fairly frequently, but the original cherry veneers are a real tricky item to find. PIAS is the only place that I have found them in seniors. However juniors and intermediates show up on ebay fairly regularly.
habsfan87 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2008 I haven't seen any in a few years, ebay might be the best bet. keep a look out for the genesis too, it also has some wood on the exterior and is quite possibly the strongest shaft ive ever seen
NWoodhockey17 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2008 yeah theres one on ebay right now. the cherry's were the darker colored ones right? what are the names of those stores BigDipper?

I know that the one in Bayers Lake got in some older and a few newer TPS shafts about 3 weeks ago and they were selling them at pretty low prices. I dont remember if they had the tri-cores though but I might pop in there tomorrow and I'll let you know if they have any.
koivulchuk 1 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 This cracks me up that I'm seeing interest in TriCore & Genesis shafts again. I had both until this past week. I still have the Genesis.I tried selling my tricore like 10 times over the last 2 years...no dice. I put it on here mostly...then I tried craigslist...i had a little interest on craigslist...but again...nothing serious. All the while I was asking a modest $35.Well I finally bite the bullet a couple weeks ago & list it on ebay...freakin' thing sold for $114...and it's used. I was stunned to say the least. So if anyone has one still...sell it on ebay...I can't believe how much you can get for them now.Makes me wonder how much I could get for my Genesis... Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Hmmm, think I may list my Kohos. Sucks that eBay redid their fee table though.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Are these the triangle shafts? Dude on my team has two.
Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 No, those were the original Trilage shafts. Tricores were a 3 layer shaft. Wood outer layer, and I believe a carbon middle, and a fibreglas inner layer.
mack 44 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 We need a buyer's version of our eBay idiot thread. I see Jack the Grippers go for over $20 there time-to-time. It's insane what people will pay for goofy shit.
JR97 2 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 I had a couple of tricores and loved the senior and hated the intermediate. The int. was too flexy. And not in a good way. Just a wet noodle. But they're very hard to come by nowdays. I saw one at a drop in on sunday and dude wouldn't part with it. He sat on it for 4 years before even sticking a blade in it and now he loves. bastard. djosbun 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 I have a TriCore (the later model) in my garage. It is a senior regular flex still in pretty good shape. I think maybe i'll dust it off and give it another shot. It was a pretty good shaft, but I don't think i'll get used to the lack of grip since i'm currently using a One90 and AK27 Grip shaft. Tyler B 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 i love these sticks. I only ever tried someone elses. But i loved it. I tried to buy it off the one guy and he wouldnt sell it. There is also one kid on my team who HAD one. He broke it last game.
Jarick 5 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 I had one of those intermediate Tricores, thing felt like a 50 flex. What was the appeal with these things anyway? I got mine for $20 and dumped it the next week.
JR97 2 Report post Posted January 31, 2008 The intermediate sucked. I had mine for about a week and dumped it as well. But the senior regular flex was great.

I got mine for $20 and dumped it the next week.I think the appeal must be there durability. I had people wanting mine who had the same shaft before...used it for several years (I think they came out in '02 or something like that)...and either broke or is finally wearing out.I'm sure they're not people who play everyday, but if Joe Weekend Hockey gets 4-6 years out of a shaft...and likes the way it plays...he'll want the same one again. At least that's how a lot of people around here seem. Not all of us can be gearwhores...lol.The one I just sold I had used probably 20 times...and it almost looked brand new. One small white scuff from what looks like the tape on someone else's blade...and that's it. Personally, I just like using new & different stuff...so a shaft that durable is not the shaft for me...but like I said...exceptional durability like that is MOST important for a lot of people... NWoodhockey17 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 durability was part of it, its been since i was in a junior flex though since i've used one, i think i still have it somewhere around my house. but the thing just would not break, had a focus flex blade in it and that thing was perfect. i think i had to choose between that and a grip lite when i got it haha
