Is This a Really Bad Idea?

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on buying a 77 flex One90 shaft. The only blades i can find in the curve ive been using for about 8 years (the Yzerman) are junior blades. Would it be a really horrible idea to put a few strips of tape on the tenon to help attain a tight fit? Or should i just try to find something close (ie CCM Thornton) in senior?

ps

i did search this, to no avail.

yeah, don't do it. The jr Yzerman is a different curve from what i've seen on jr synergys , and the blade will most likely still be loose, and will greatly hamper performance. Youre better off with the thornton or a sherwood coffey, which is a pretty common blade to find and is also a big mid.

yeah, i am actually in quite a bit of denial, because ive never used a curve i like as much as the yzerman, and i dont want to stop using it now :(

u could order some christian/harrow blades off their site, u can get an exact yzerman clone, and they hae pretty good prices, both composite or wood tapered or standard.. oh god i sound like an ad

No, the Jr. Yzerman is MUCH different than the Yzerman you guys are thinking about.

It's nothing like the Thornton, or the Sr. Yzerman.

It's a slight mid curve, slightly open, 5.5 lie.

The Jr. Yzerman is A.K.A. a Jr. Sakic.

Pretty much a Sakic just less open.

Blade shape on the Iginla is different, as well as the square toe, but other than that it sounds like a good idea.

I'd reccomend a Sakic. Just more open.

I've got a sakic and an iginla. both have a round toe. both have the same lie. sakic is more open and a longer blade.

If he said he's looking for something close (Thornton), then he is clearly looking for something akin to the SENIOR Yzerman curve. Where did you guys learn how to read?

could he not be unaware that the junior Yzerman and senior are different? I think the easiest think would be to go to ur lhs if u can/have one and look at some patterns first hand.

I'm aware of that, but there is no reason people should be suggesting Iginla or Sakic blades when they are in no way, shape, or form similar to a Senior Yzerman.

I have a couple of old Ultra Lite blades and a Z-Carbon in Yzerman; PM me if you're interested and I'll see if I can dig them up for you.
