Need your advice please

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I used the search button but didn't found any adequate info...

I'm considering to buy an L-2 stick but would like to have some opinions about the shaft first...

Is it better/ worser than any other tapered shaft?

Also, I'm hesitating between the 100 and the 85 flex.

FYI, I mostly play roller hockey, weight about 170lbs, I'm 5'11.

I used to play with 100 flex...

Thanks for your suggestions and sharing experiences.

Brice

well, I mostly played with Easton sticks.

I'm currently switching between an easton UL, a synergy si-core and a pro M-2... depending on the surface I play on and my mood. I like my synergy the most, close with the M-2

All are 100 flex, as 85 flex is very hard to find here in Belgium... :(

The 85 should load a little quicker on your wristers and snap shots, you may get more velocity on your shot from that. Do your current 100 flex sticks bend much on wristers?

I'm not having a Brett Hull bending on my wristers.... so I'd say a little.

Same with slappers.

Also, what are your opinions on the mission composite blades?

I like thin, strong blades (who doesn't)...

Never used a Mission blade. They're not as easy to find here and the prices at my local shops are outrageous. I know Buzz thinks they're the greatest.

Mission blades aren't thin compared to Easton, Inno and TPS. They've problably gotten rid of durability issues though. Then again, Kovalchuck71's L2 blades didn't last so long.

He got one with a bad hosel, it cracked quickly. Though with Mission customer service, they should resolve any major problems quickly.

The L-2 should be very similar to your Pro Issue M-2. The Pro Issue M-2 shafts were also tapered like the L-2. I have 3 Pro Issue M-2 shafts (105 flex) and I love them. When they break I will probably buy L-2 shafts to replace them.

I've had a 100 flex L-2 (Hull curve) for about 2 months now and just recently purchased another one from an MSH member. The curve was a little awkward for me at first but that's personal preference.

I had previously used 100 flex Eastons and 260 Innos. The only Mission shaft I'd previously used was a retail M-2 (100 flex) which I was extremely pleased with (performance and durability-wise).

The paint of the shaft seemed to chip quick on hard slashes but no nasty deep cuts or nicks. I was a bit cautious on the blade too with this being the first time using a Mission composite. It has held up wonderfully and is a good hybrid of durability (like an Easton UG) and response ( like an Inno comp).

As far as comparisons to other tapered combos, I liked it better than a Synthesis combo (shaft isn't as boxy as Easton's...yeah I have small hands). My previous favorite was a Novius/Inno composite combo and I'd say this is comparable.

I'll try to get a full review up shortly (as I've been wanting to for the last month....damn procrastinator....)

lol, I'm very much of a procrastinator myself :P

Although thanks for the usefull info.

I will try the 85 flex for once... Couldn't be that bad I guess. Just a bit of practising.

Btw Shorthanded, what were your feelings about the mission blade (not speaking about the curve, only the materials and stuff)?

I was skeptical at first not knowing what to expect. I think it ranks up there with the Easton Z-Carb and the Inno Graphite, which were my previous experiences. I don't break blades too often anyway, but this has held up through 2 months of abuse (playing roller hockey on SportCourt 6 games/week). It feels sturdy to me and it's not too thin where you can bend it. Personally after using the L-2 blade, I'd love to see Mission make a composite standard blade sometime in the future. Hell, make a blue one to match the M-2....

I'll admit that after using Easton for years and Inno for a year I was hesitant to try a Mission-branded stick for whatever reason. I was thoroughly impressed with my M-2 shaft so I gave the L-2 a try and I'm equally impressed.

I liked my l-2 and the blades had great feel IMO.... I only had one bad one and like chadd said the tennon snapped clear off after about 12 shots. Besides that, I had no problems......

i am feeling the same way about the l-2, im not sure whether to get an 85 or 100. at the moment i am using a 260 inno 1100 and just broke a 100 synergy. i had a 100 m-1 that i broke about a month ago that seemed a little stiffer than my 100 synergy and my mission rep told me that in his experience mission flexes ran about 5 easton points higher than easton flexes, so most likely ill make the same choice and go with 85.
