any RBK skate users have this problem?!?

Recommended Posts

You know that little ball on your foot, the bone on the inside?!? Well, mine keeps rubbing on the area where the tongue ends and just by the rivets. I can barely wear the skates (10th time out) because of constant rubbing. It feels like that bone is constantly rubbing against the rivets.

Coming from my old CCM Tacks, they had a nice big tongue. The RBK tongue is flimsy and offers little padding...

I truely regret buying my 7k's. I havent been happy with their comfort (after baking, and wearing 10+ times)

They fit right, but the lousy tongue kills it for me. Bad lace bite, and as mentioned, where padding is needed over the rivets, my bone rubs and such.

Anyone else experience this?!? Im likely gonna toss them up on Ebay and take a 150$ loss on em, but I cant play like this in pain constantly, I worry more about the skates then the game!

I don't have any issues with that area - I do, however, get some discomfort at the upper portion of the tongue. There is a part in the tongue near the hinge where the wider flanges on the outsides of the tongue taper in. Because my foot is border-line for the depth of my skates, this portion of the tongue gets pushed into my right foot and causes some pain. I am not nuts about the tongue of these skates either.

That's odd...have you lifted up the footbed to see if there is a maunfacturer flaw of some sort? I don't have any problems with my 9k's. That mousepad idea is pretty clever though. Your LHS may have some extra padding for problems like that also.

Doubtful on the LHS...but they do make Bunga Pads for lace bite...but at 35 bucks a piece I'm willing to bet most of us on this board are clever enough to create our own mouse pad idea. I stuff a cut up "coolie" (beer can thingy) in my sock.

for the rivets, the mousepad idea sounds like a solution

if you are having lace bite, which i have found usually doesnt happen much in the RBK because of the half hexagon shape tongue, you could always try to create a doughnut shape of foam, to relieve the pressure in that spot. ive seen it work quite well

I get terrible lace bite from my RBK inline skates, same stuff. With a new season of that starting up I guess I'll see again how bad it was.

I have been in my 7K's for ice for about a year now, and recently bought a second pair for an inline conversion with no issues. The only thing that I can think is that the skates are MUCH more comfortable if you break the tongue in with the end flaps pointing down towards the footbed of the skate as opposed to to the size and having them curl across the top of your foot. Hope that they work out for you man.
