Just got back from a Dave Matthews Band concert!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just got back from an amazing DMB concert at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. Absolutely friggin insane. 65,000 people all singing and dancing to Dave Matthews Band. Plus before hand all 65,000 plus people that didn't have tickets tailgated in the parking lot for hours before and after. I arrived at 2pm got back to my hotel room at 2:40am. It's difficult to put into words how amazing it was.

But anyway, what was the best concert you have attended?

I have two, one was a Dream Theater concert in 2001, the opening act was Joe Satriani, that was a great prog show. The other one was last year, I went to see Pearl Jam in Montreal, that was also a great show.

I've told about my favorite band and concert ever was AFI, but the only story I have from there is I got elbowed in the mouth and I was bleeding really bad.

So far I have only gone to two. I went to Linkin Park with P.O.D, Hoobastank, and Story of The Year, which has been my favorite. The other one I went to was Elton John (last weekend at Las Vegas). My parents made me see that one <_< . Next month I am going to go see Incubus with the Vines. Alot of times I am out of town when the good bands play here in Dallas.

Iv been to a korn one and iam going to a slipknot/hatebreed one.

When I was at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay I am pretty sure that Slipnot and Hate Breed was playing at the House Of Blues there. I would have gone, but I didn't find out untill like the morning after they played.

I just realized I went to Countryfest in Dauphin MB. Since probally nobody here exept stampeder knows what it is, i'll tell you. It's a 5 day party with country music and lots and lots of drinking. I know everybody here is thinking OMG WTF HICK LOSER GTFO FAG, but it's far from the hick country stereotype. There's a social everynight for the younger people, when thats over people go to lower camping(there camping all weekend) and wander around and party. Best time of my life and I will never forget it. All my cousins go and we have the best time, were well known around those parts, the kimo's. Anyways, enough with the partying, getting to the entertainment. My favorite singer this year was Keith Urban, he was really good and it was weird, kinda like a rock concert during that one, because girls were whipping off theyre tops and stuff. Weird. Brad Paisley was rockin too. I sudjest everybody takes a trip up To Dauphin and comes next year :)

DMB is easily my favorite band (note the avatar).

Projekt Revolution is going to the same place I saw DMB and Phish was there two weeks ago.

I forgot to mention that Guster opened up for DMB and they were really good too.

That Dream Theater/Satriani concert sounds like it would be pretty awesome.

Also DMB is going to be in Ames, IA in October so I think I am going to hit that up too.

Every concert has something good about it, lolla 2 was probably my favorite. The Dream Theater gigs were cool since the rep got me backstage to both and the Spin Doctors show was cool as they did two sets as this was before they hit it big.

Here's the top few in no particular order:

Dream Theater 2x backstage both shows

Spin Doctors backstage

Lollapalooza 2 and 3

Horde Tour

Clapton

Ted Nugent

Megadeath

Brother Cane

Warrant (actually, very cool guys)

Pink Floyd

Soundgarden

Ozzy

W/Motorhead and AIC

Recently i went to the KISS concert and it was AMAZING!!! first off me and 3 friends all painted our faces just like KISS. (i was peter) we had origionally gotten lawn seats, yes they sucked. when we got there poision was playing so we had some time to chill and get food. no more than 15 min. befor KISS got on stage, we tried to talk a security guard to get us some "real" seats and it worked. she got us 20 rows from the stage!!!!!!!! we were soooo lucky. when the flames came, we could feel the heat!!!!!!!!!! ill never forget that concert.

if KISS ever come into ur town, u won't want to miss their show.

iam also concidering Ozzfest. ne one been to it?

He was here this week and like every year, it rained.

Edit: Chadd you hung with the Spin Doctors? Saw them at a bar in AK and we were like "who's that burnout?" and it was the lead singer. He was trying to wheel some chick all night unsuccessfully but at least they weren't bad to hang with. Even bought a few rounds.

the concert that i want to go to the most is Big Valley Jamboree here in Alberta. Maxim rated it as the third easiest place to get laid in the world, plus you get some good tunes and some great days of boozin and campin out. Missed it this year cause of work, but there is no way I'm missing out next year. Any other Alberta boys here been to or are planning on goin next year? Funniest thing I've seen at a concert was at Matt Good Band a few years ago when they played in Regina, and about an hour into the set, somebody threw a shoe and it hit matt good square in the jaw. needless to say, he flipped off the crowd, left, and didn't come back. It's a real shame too because it was a wicked concert up till then.

And in a related story, Maxim also ranked the Big Valley Jamboree as the second easiest place to wake up to find you have crabs.

In 1991 at a place less than a mile from my house I saw Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, and Pearl Jam. At the time RHCP was pretty popular (my favorite at the time) and the Smashing Pumpkins were just getting noticed but nobody in the club had any idea who Pearl Jam was. The club held less than a 1000 people. All the bands were great! It was a wild show, one big mosh pit!

The cool thing about it is that a couple years after that show, all the bands were so popular that you’d never see any of them in a small club.

I've been to Dave twice. Awesome shows. First time I was 20th row on the floor and next time I was 8th. The second time I went I met a real interesting guy, Regal. He kept on telling me how hot my date was and I finally told him it was my sister. Then he told me what a great guy I was for taking my sister to a show. Constantly told me what a cool guy I am. Gave me his cell number, told me he had some tickets to the next Dave show that'd he'd give me for free because I'm such a cool guy. I never called him, I was pretty sketched out. Anybody who can smoke that much weed in that short of a time span has to be up to something.
