Recommended Posts

i am getting a new helmet soon and i have a small head. I tried on rbk and mission but they were too wide for my head any nike bauer fit nicely. Has anybody tried or has a 8500 helmet? Please comment. thanks

i have a 8000 and i like it just as much as my 5000. its got a few different ways to tweak the fit and its a little lighter but thats about it. its a solid helmet though. definately worth the money. if it fits and you like it go for it bro. you cant go wrong its a good buy.

I have the NBH 8500 helmet in medium with the head width adjusted to maximum (there is a tool-less width adjustment on the helmet). I am a 5'2" woman and I was surprised that the small size was too small for me. So you will probably be able find the NBH 8500 narrow enough for you!

i had a 8000; liked it a lot, good protection, good comfort, and all the size adjusters are a nice touch to finding a good fit

when it got small, i got a rbk, i wore my 8000 on the widest possible setting

if it fits and is comfortable, go for it

I had a 8000 and used it for 2 years. I loved the fit and the tool less adjustment system. The only thing that disappointed me about the helmet was that about a year in, the padding for the forehead fell out and i needed to tape it back in. May have only been mine but just a heads up

I got my 8000 second hand from MissConduct- Great airflow, padding is still all in place, very nice fit for me.

I took a HARD landing square on the back of my head with it. The ref said he'd never seen anyone land that hard on their head- ever. I didn't even get a concussion. So for me the protection has been excellent.

The helmet still works great, no complaints on durability.

Had a 5000 then got a 8500. I'm still very happy with the 8500. The padding just seemed to feel better. The protection (had a mild stick swinging incident - el cheapo's stick against my 8500 and head - no problemo) and ventilation was good too. I also have a rather small head also because I keep a clean-shaven head. I can't fit into RBK's.

I have the 8000 in a medium. I like the fit and the protection. I like the occipital lock in the back, I think that is the best feature. You really get a good fit with it. My pads in the forehead are coming out, too. That's the only problem I've had with it so far.

I wear the 8500. Originally looking for the 8000 but the 8500 was the same price so I went with it.(newer model) One of the most comfortable and protective helmets I've ever worn but a bit on the heavy side. I also have the Mission Intake and find it slightly lighter but not near as comfortable. It is not too bad as far as comfort but I prefer the 8500 fit much more.

I got an 8500 and it is very comfortable. The weight doesn't seem to bother me but it isn't the lightest helmet. I've taken a puck and a few sticks to the helmet and didn't feel a thing...it'll be a good buy......

My head shape is probably like yours- oval. Other helmets rock side-to-side when I wear them, which is annoying. I have been wearing the 8500 for two years and it is a perfect fit for my head. It does sit slightly higher than others but I cannot say anything negative about it. I can't wait until the 9500 comes out, since it should fit the same but sit lower on the head.

Im looking into the 8500 or the 5500, I like the look of the RBK's but I find its too wide for my head, I think alot of people have this problem with the RBK's.

Reebok and CCM are two of the widest helmets on the market and fit people with larger craniums. The Jofa 690 was the widest and also the lightest made for a long time, unfortunately it has been discontinued (maybe so it doesn't compete with the aforementioned brands)and was my favourite helmet for years. I wish they would bring it back, I'd scoop one up in a second over anything on the market today.

I've been using the 8500 for about a year now and it's held up great. I really like the padding... easy to clean. Nice tool-free adjustability too.
