Mickey Renaud dead at 19

wow, to see a fit athlete younger than I collapse...scary, very very sad. I want to say I hope drugs weren't a factor as well, but if they weren't it's even more devistating.

Heart arhythmia is a possibility. My own cousin passed away from it, and according to doctors it's not as uncommon in young active people as you may think. The reason I throw it out there is that the way they described his death was similar, they collapse, and if they can't be defibrilated on the spot, there's little to no chance of survival. Sad either way around.

yeah I saw that as well, and footage of the game, both teams wearing his number for warmups and the ohl will wear a sticker on their helmet for the remainder of the season. Nothing but class with this tragedy from the city of Windsor and the CHL.

Back to a conversation that started somewhere else about how sport pays tribute to their own.

Ceremonial faceoff was taken by the Belleville Captain with no one in place for the Spitfires...and both teams wore #18 for the warmups and after the anthem, the Windsor players, one by one took off their jerseys and left them at Center.

As habsfan87 already said, very, very classy tributes by the team and the League.

More on the game/tributes:

I'm not trying to be the downer but did they say what was the cause of his death?

I think autopsy results are still pending.

I believe they released the autopsy results to his family.

That's a little bit of a misnomer. Not all dysrhthmias are shockable.
