Compression Tops

Recommended Posts

I have one from a company called TEK. I don't know if the AHL has equipment contracts like the NHL does with Reebok (for example), but if it's possible I think mine might be a Philadelphia Phantoms pro-stock based on the color and where I got it from. It's alright, but it sure doesn't keep you warm.

NHL doesn't have contract for undergarments, just that nothing but Reebok can be visible in the dressing room 30 minutes before or after a game. Never heard of pro stock compression gear...

I won a warrior compression top from fan day sponsored by the wings. ive worn it since to every drop in and love it.. couldnt imagine wearing anything else under my pads. the only thing that kind of sucks is the back sweats quite abit but other then that im defiantly willing to buy another long sleeve top. i highly recommend them.

I wear a Mission short sleeve from HockeyMonkey that i got for around 35. I was hesitant about the attached neckguard, but kind of talked myself into it after the zednik incident. I wore it this past tuesday, barely noticed the neck, but the sweat wicking front and mesh back felt great and I am glad I moved on from the cotton t-shirts I usually wear that get heavy and gross out there. Ive never been cold in the torso on a rink, only had problems with cold hands in particularly cold barns, and overheating was never an issue either for me. But for comfort, this is a great improvement in mobility under my shoulder pads and overall feel, i dont feel waterlogged as much anymore near the end of a skate. Has anyone tried a Farrell padded shirt? Im considering switching to one of those rather than shoulder pads for drop in games, but maybe i just need better fitting shouldies.

I have an UA long sleeve shirt w/ the sticky things on the elbows and it's pretty nice. I don't remember what I paid for it but it does what it advertises, wicks the moisture away and really keeps my body cooler while playing. The one complaint I have about it is that it seems as if it is designed for an ape... the sleeves are about 6-8" too long. I'm 5'9" and about 160lbs (with normal length arms) and picked up the medium, it fits nice and snug the way it should but the sleeves are just too long. I end up having to fold the sleeves up a few inches to compensate but then that interferes w/ the elbow pad and the sticky area (which also seems to be situated a bit too low)... I normally like to have my wrists open so having the shirt even longer than necessary reallty bothers me that much more. I wish they made the shirt in a 3/4 length sleeve but then again I may just hit it w/ the scissors and thread.

I wear the inexpensive walmart ones. The short sleeve was $8 and the long sleeve ones were $10. I only wear the longs when the short sleeve one is dirty. I have a nike sleeveless as well, but I don't know where it went. :P

Since your in Europe you can look at some bike base layers stuff as well. Craft, Descent, Nalini all make stuff that is applicable. The idea is that it soaks up moisture bringing it to the surface for good ole evaporation to take effect, and yes this happens as you skate as well as on the bike.

Probikekit.com out of England was shipping cheaply continental if I recall from some bike threads might want to see what they can do for you

Yeah, the Nike Dri-Fits do tend to hold in the smell. Other than that I was very happy with the ones I had. I just bought two UA shirts. The loose fit works great for hockey and the compression tees are perfect for under my TKD uniform.

Someone said to add a little ammonia to the wash to get rid of smell.

It's a very unique, shall we say, color of purple that (to my knowledge) only the Phantoms use. And when you buy it from a Philadelphia Flyers pro shop... I don't know, I just get the feeling it was special-ordered for the team and ended up in the pro shop when it went unused.

Adidas Powerweb. I use these and swear by them. Not your cheapest option, but I really notice the powerweb application especially in the shirt ( I have the sleeveless one). In terms of the options out there, these are def my choice.

I originally got the shorts for playing football (soccer) as every time i slid in for a tackle they would roll up my leg. These shorts solved the problem.

I have the top and the shorts and wear them 4-5 times a week (hockey, football, gym), with washings after every use. Ive had the top for about a year, and the shorts for 6 months. There is no visable wear.

Adidas Powerweb.

Some may be skeptical because of the price, but I would recommend trying them on and seeing how they felt for you. I tried on the top and was sold. As for the shorts, I got them for another reason (stated above)

Other than that I have tried the nike pro, UA, regular adidas and a few others... Nike Pro would be my next choice. With UA cold gear thermal my choice for cold weather (snowboarding, pond hockey, ice bars)
