Blowing Leads Becoming Trendy and Cool?

Recommended Posts

Like wtf is the deal here? I have never seen it this bad. Tonight I predicted exactly what would happen in the Lightning game. My Bruins almost blew it last night but managed to squeak out the win in the SO. Rangers blow 5 goal lead last night and lose in the shooutout to Montreal. Panthers blow lead last night and lose in regulation to the Pens. Capitals blow lead tonight and lose in shootout. Shootouts are gay to begin with, but this is ridiculous this season. Discuss.

I don't think it's trendy or cool to blow a lead...but it does speak to the parity of the League...and the way the game is being called.

Leads just aren't safe anymore. 2 or 3 PP's late in a game/period can make a 3-4 goal lead go away in a hurry.

I was so excited about the shootout being the tie breaker... Never realizing that we'd get 4 or 5 each week.

I think this lead blow action has been more recent. Maybe we'll see teams go deep in the playoffs that are traditional dropouts and longshots because of this.

Lightning blow leads on a regular basis, it's what happens when a crappy coach can't match lines and overplays superstars... didn't help that the refs didnt call a very apparent hook on St Louis, then calls a similar hook on Boyle.

Saw that...wasn't happy about that. But hey, the game was in Buffalo. That type of shit always happens when games are in Buffalo...refs and linesman just seem to hand them games whenever they can.

They did it early in the game too, but whatever. I'm normally pretty objective when looking at calls, like I know that trip by Kuba was a trip(as argued by me against other TBL fans)... With that being said the Lightning have been getting the short end of the stick pretty often after the stanley cup, Toronto(reviewed goals) is the main culprit... the refs have their moments but mostly it's pretty fair. Regardless, the team still isn't looking good and that's not the refs fault. BUT I'm steering this waay off topic...

I've never been that fussed on watching the Habs as I find them quite boring to watch at times, however the game against the Rags was the best Habs game I have seen in a very long time.

Blowing a 5 goal lead isn't cool but it sure as hell was exciting to watch and kept me on the edge of my seat right until the very end. Wasn't this what the NHL wanted to do? Add more excitement to the game?

I don't think it is becoming trendy or cool.....how many people on this earth who play a sport and make money doing it want to lose??? That just wouldn't make sense ya know, i don't think it really has anything to do with the way the game is being called or played now, it happens all the time in sports because a team just gets comfortable with a lead and lose that intensity that they started with or get all the right bounces right away and the opposing team just keeps chugging away till they get some....and that can be fact by asking any player...sometimes you just get comfortable with the lead you built so you kind of just go on cruise control ya know and then before you know it tie game or you are losing

Seriously? Did you run out of real things to complain about today?

I still don't understand why someone would think that is trendy and cool to blow leads and that teams are just doing it.....yeah im sure that a team with high caliber athletes wants to blow a big lead and lose, cause im pretty sure they all hate losing

I'm pretty sure the OP was being sarcastic. More like trying to figure out why it's happening so much, like an ugly trend.

One highschool girl wears ugly ass outfit and soon all of the little whores are wearing mini skirts with Ugg(ly) boots.

One team starts blowing their 3rd period lead and all of a sudden it seems like everyone is sporting lackluster 3rd period effort if the score is more than 1 goal in their favor.

you know I'm pretty sure this is what the NHL wanted. More goals, the ability to watch a third period with some scoring. You remember offense right? It's this thing from the 80's but disapeared because bettman and devils made a pact to ruin hockey. I love it. Hope every game has amazing comebacks.

However, stop with all the shootouts, I wish they just played 10 min overtime and if no one wins just call it a tie.

Or even better, shorten the season, play less games, like 68 games instead of 82 and make all games unlimited overtime, winner takes all, no points for losing. No points for standings just winning %.
