millencolin9387 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 http://fluidmotionsports.com/They have the skates of the website, as well as the carbon shin pads. However, there is no price on either, and the shin pads don't seem to include a strap? <_<
Keith 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 The sg are actually something tempting, but there is no way in hell I would ever buy them without some major type of warranty for touch ups on cracks and cuts. I don't know about anyone else, but I seem to get crazy amounts of skate blade impacts on my sg. If he wants to generate interest in the hockey market, he should try his hand at making extremely light custom composite sticks.
Hidious 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 What's the point of composite shin guards? Lightnest again? Personally, i'm happy with plastic.

chiab 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 the game 7 1080 skates are 900 dollars U.S. They aren't worth it. My friend used them before. They look like a ski boot or fisherman boots, warm in them. But incredibly comfortable.

Shark#81 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I'm looking for somewhere on the net, a place I can have a bit of freedom to talk hockey, show new ideas and get feedback if we've got something to show, or potentially help players in the game. I like it here on MSH, people have their heart into it, lots of good information & stories. I also like the fact that it is very well moderated. We have nothing really to sell, just some new concepts to bounce off the experts. Is that spam??

Posting your website address in your signature and every post, is spamming. Comparing other products to yours, is spamming. Only posting when you can slip in a mention of your stuff, is spamming. Happy to see you aren't doing that anymore.

ashtonhutch05 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I personally am glad that he's here, since he has a wealth of knowledge about some of the technology used in the hockey industry that he shares, that not many others have. Plus I think his products are neat, not too often will you see a semi-homemade hockey skate around. As for the spamming, I can't say I've seen an awful lot of it, but that's not for me to judge, and I'm sure you've seen more than me.
Keith 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 The sprung thread in roller is sort of the example for how to do it. He answers what is asked of him, and people post input on their purchases. Shark's problem is he is the only one equipped the equipment, so no matter what, he will be talking to the people instead of with them about his designs and their performance. What would be an awesome thread were one where people could ask him anything they have been wondering about composite technology. Maybe if financially feasible for the company, what he could do is make a mod a pair to demo for a month or two, provide his feedback on the concept and return them. I don't know, I don't think he has been spamming in the truest sense of it as he doesn't really sell any of this stuff.... All these items amount to are proofs of concept imo. All this said, the site is owned and paid for by the mods and they make the rules. They don't really get anything out of this.
srv2miker 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 That website needs some serious work. I was positive that the website text was translated from French, then I saw they're based in BC - what the hell happened there?

Basically, many of us were doubters and he just answeres with the same "I have not encountered that, it is not an issue" response. The main concern was the tightening clip on the boot. You're right though, it's hard for him because he's the only one on the board using them. It's impossible for him to get enough use out of the skates to see all flaws and be able to address these issues as something more than the honest, yet question-left-unanswered response: "I have not encountered that, it is not an issue." Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 Our local Easton rep has that same response to equip concerns TBL. He's the sole inporter in the country for Easton, Itech and Mission and he thinks with responses like that he's being shifty like a MP or something. He's shit so many ppl with that response a large collective of players in our state now firmly buy those brands over the net. If you are honest and open customers will appreciate it, if you avoid giving truthful answers you lose credibility and sales.
Shark#81 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 Prototyping and building CF gear takes a lot of time to do, and you get absorbed in the details of it. So when you live and breathe the stuff, that is what you generally want to post or talk about. For sure I see it can look like spam, but it's because I'm over-stoked on it. It think it's been like four seasons I've been working on skates. Late last year did the first pair of CF shins. This year's setup (of gear) propelled me to my best season in memory, 31 points in 30 games, put me ~top 5 defense scoring, open division (19 and up). Also played through a sep shoulder and knee injury. The CF shins are so light and they form fit. It'd be like those shins from Fury, using the crocs foam. Has anyone tried those? If you cut a full pound from your legs, and then fit the weight as if it becomes a part of your lower leg, it makes a big diff for acceleration. Don't need the straps.I am not sure what to do about the skates. The demo idea makes a lot of sense. Maybe I can get some support from the EVA manufacturer, in a similar way the the Crocs co. owns Fury. Cheers

Shark#81 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 Does that ratchet on your skate ever come undone if it is clipped by a stick, puck, or skate? No, but I use the hardware to hook the bottom of my socks. I've been looking at different closures, but have not found anything better. A lower profile receptor would be good. The strap side is very tough. A women player who comes out to our games wants a set of pink-accent carbon skates, so we are planning to do that this month. I'll post pix when they are done. Our team captain, (superstitious/particular/fussy - who isn't?) is going to strap on the FM carbon shins for next week's playoff game. Hasn't scored in the last two tilts. His plastic shins weigh a ton.
