Smelling Salts (instructions?)

Recommended Posts

so i was watching the bjackets vs. sharks game tonight when i same a jackets player using smelling salts. i was interested in using these just to get that extra kick during a game since i often feel a loss of energy during games (not because of endurance i'm sure :P ) are there any rules or suggestions to using these things?

already read this topic: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...=smelling+salts

but only had info on what it is, not rules on using it

Edited: for spelling

I think he means rules as to how much sniffing of it will kill you etc.

I wouldnt sniff it toooo much or especially too hard or you'll screw up your nostrils and it hurts lol

it doesnt give you energy or a kick. it wakes up you, and makes you coherant. it is not something you should do for energy.

i never would of guessed #44. thanks for your words of wisdom.

i'm talkin about dosage

Edit: if it doesn't give you a kick, why do so many nhl'ers use it. i'm pretty there they are wide awake during games.

Depends on how hard they get hit in the head.

i believe teams do use them a lot - every time i've played after a ducks game at the honda ponda, the benches are littered with used ones. and i don't recall seeing any on the bench the time i played before the ducks game, so i tend to think they do get picked up.

Same with the lightning. You'll see hundreds of used packets on the bench.. Not sure how often they clean them up but there's a LOT of them in the groove in the floor under the water bottle shelf.

It doesn't give you a kick but it stimulates breathing, so your muscles that control breathing work faster thus more O2 to muscles better muscles performance. If it works or not I have no idea but thats the theory.

We used to use them at work for passed out drunks and people who we thought had faked passing out or faked a seizure. They have since taken them away from us. Back when we carried them they were a pretty common practical joke around the station. Firefighter crashed in front of the TV pass one under his nose and watch him jump like he'd been shot, sneak up behind someone and get it close enough for him to catch a wiff etc. Long time since I've had one under my nose, I would say jolts your brain pretty good and maybe a minor clearing of the nose and sinuses making breathing easier. Can't imagine doing it on purpose while awake to yourself, they aren't pleasnt.
