One90 pain

Recommended Posts

I skated in my one90 skates for the first time today and after having them baked a few days ago they felt pretty comfortable whilst i was playing even though they were very stiff. However when i took the skates off i had a really bad pain along the side of the bottom of one of my feet and i couldn't walk properly or put any amount of pressure on that foot. I just wanted to ask if this is something i need to worry about or is this normal with new skates? I just find it odd that i didnt experience this pain whilst i was wearing the skates, just once i took them off?

I have vapor XXX's and my experience after I skate is much similar to yours. My feet don't hurt at all while I skate, but after I take the boot off I can't walk very well. But this pain goes away within 15 min. If your pain is staying with you for the rest of the day then obviously theres a problem. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

Also from what people have told me the "break in" process for the one90's can be a little more uncomfortable than other skates.

the first few sessions I had with my one90's I thought I just threw away 500+ dollars, my feet were just killing me to the point where I couldn't walk. They have a pretty decent break in time and I found myself baking them several times, punching spots and picking up superfeet. I've had these almost 9 months or so and the last couple of months these have been the most comfortable skate Ive ever used.

Just wear them around the house, try baking them more than once, punch them if you need to and just play through the pain

I actually experience this same problem with my One90s. When I tried them on and bought them, they felt perfect. When I'm skating on them, also no problems. However, when I take them off, it really hurts for a few minutes on the outside/bottom of my foot. I think for me, it's b/c I have a bone that protrudes on the lateral aspect of my feet which is constantly under pressure. I might try getting the area punched out just a bit if it's possible.

The guys at my LHS the other day did say that due to the walls of the skate being so thin, they wouldn't recommend trying to significantly change it.

lol...I have the same protruding bone issue, right where my 5th metatarsal meets the lateral cuneiform, but i also have a calcium deposit on the medial aspect of my navicular where I broke it like seven or eight years ago.

Ive been on my One90s, 4 times now. Im still experiencing the same things you guys are talking about. The pain is decreasing and I think itll be gone in another 4-5 games. Its part of the breaking in process. I played for 2.5 hrs today, with a couple 5 min breaks to loosen the middle and toe of the laces and that seemed to help. But the first time ever on them, it hurt so bad I had trouble hitting the gas/break while driving home.

Its mainly a bruising sort of pain along the bottom of the ouside of my foot which i am experiencing, although there are no visible bruises. I guess this sort of thing could have been expected skating in boots like the one90's for the first time 3 hours straight without taking them off for a rest or loosening?

I punched my skates in the two same places on each skate in 3-4-5 small intervals and the skates are fine. My LHS owner told me its a harder skate to work on but can be done, I've been going to this specific guy my entire life so I trust what he says.

My LHS charged me $100 to bake the One90s and then when I asked about profiling a few days later the guy (not the same one who baked my skates) said he didn't know what that was. So I don't think I'm going to allow them to touch my skates anymore.

It's definitely a gaping hole after a 100 dollar bake fee. Why the hell would you even pay that? I thought it was common knowledge that bakes are never more than 30 dollars...

Yeah, I'm still sore, but I couldn't find another place to do it and I wasn't going to stick them in my oven and try to do it myself

Just bought the one90's last week, tonight was the 3rd time skating in them, I absolutely hate them, my feet kill, and i can barely skate, i kept falling down, as it felt so awkward to skate in them, im coming from a nike quest 4, and these things are cruel! how long will it take to feel comfortable...im already thinking about going back to my old skate for my game next week and just putting these up for sale!

so frustrated.

If they're killing your feet, they will most likely never feel comfortable. The biggest knock on the One90 was that it fit so few people properly. I know I tried sticking it out with mine for a while, thinking the one sort spot in them would go away as they wore in. I know better now.

For all the owners of one90's how many skates did it take to break the skates in, or even start feeling comfortable in them?

Also, will baking them again, help with break-in time?

It took me a couple of weeks. I had to skate in them with the laces barely tightened during the break-in process. After they broke-in, they were very comfortable.

Thanks, well tonight was my 4th skate in them, although better then the first skate, they still were uncomfortable and felt awkward skating, and turning directions quickly, i don't feel comfortable in them skating, im a very strong skater, so this is frustrating for me....barefoot tonight for the first time, also helped a bit i think, i hope these things break in.

Also, does your inner mid foot buldge a bit when done up? my laces arent in straight line....

I can't remember How long for MissD... 8 or 10 skates any way I think. Killed her feet at first... especially midfoot. OldTrainerGuy worked on them a bit and then told her to put thicker socks on and go suck it up for I think 10 skates. Then they were the most comfortable skates she's ever had. Two seasons now and no problems at all.
