RBK 9K sizing

Recommended Posts

I've been skating in One90s for the past year, and have been moderately happy with them. After a fair bit of tinkering, I still haven't felt as comfortable skating in them as some of my older skates.

I've got a chance to pick up a pair of slightly used RBK 9Ks for a good price, and I figured I'd give it a shot just to fool around in them and see how I like them. Worse case scenario is they're awful and I just turn around and resell them, no big deal. I'm in a 9.0D One90, and these are a 9.5. I'm wondering if people think this will be the right size, or likely a hair large? Thanks.

9Ks fit like 8090s? That's good news, because the 8090s I used to have fit really well. I'm assuming since the RBKs and Vectors use the same holder, they're both an 11ft rocker out of the box, and feel fairly similar in terms of pitch?

I wore a 10.5D One90 and I am a 10D in a 9K. I was a 10 in the V10 as well but had to go to an E width. The stock rocker will be closer to a 9' radius, but I never trust stock. Get them matched up by a good tech. The problems you most likely were having in the One90's was the fact that they are stiff as crap. If your foot is locked in a 90degree angle with your lower leg, how great will your stride be? Bauer's solution was "Don't tighten the laces as tight". Brilliant! I ended up putting the RBK lace locks on mine so I could tighten the lower part tight and leave the top 3 eyelets loose so I could get my low stride back. Thankfully, I don't have them anymore.

I thought the new Vectors fit pretty well too when I tried them on last weekend at the Lets Play Hockey Expo. The $289 skates fit better than any Vector I've tried on. I was told, "for the money, they're a better skate than the new $600 CCM Vector U." I never did try those on though, so I'm just relaying what I heard from various vendors and the guy at the CCM booth.

I wear an 8 D in the Vapor and Supreme skates but I wear a 7.5 E in Reebok 8K's . My guess is a 9.5 in the Reebok will be too big for you.

Bumping this....Does anyone know how the 8k from two years ago runs in comparison to the RBK skates of today? The general concensus I am getting is that RBKs run a bit bigger than the Bauer Supreme line of today...Pro shop guy didn't have my size, but told me they run not even a half size bigger than the NBH Supremes, and tad bit wider. I rock a 9.5 in my Supreme 50s...and they are a little bit roomy, but not sloppy in the least lengthwise. My Ultra G5s are 9.5 and they fit just about perfect lengthwise. The 8k I am looking at is a 9.

bumping because of a chance to grab 9k's for pennies on the dollar...but they have already been baked, if i decide they don't fit as snug as i want can the 2007 9k's be baked again? and if so, bladders deflated and 3 mins? 200 degrees?
