Graf lower end? high end?

Recommended Posts

I'm so confused about Graf!

I found a pair of skates I want (graf supra g3) but they cost $450 at the shop I went to. Is there a lower end graf skate that fits just like the supra g3. all the number of graf really confuse me. any help would be much appreciated. I know the 703 is one of them I think.

I believe Graf makes/made a 503.

Skates are a big investment that can last years. If the G3's and 703's fit then fork out the extra $$ to do the job right.

thats the way I feel. I heard great things about graf's lasting for years. I was torn between 9k pro stocks for $390 or the supra g3 for $470. I would have bought the graf's today if i had the money. they fit like a dream.

Nothing else is going to fit like the 703/G3/Ultra-G3. If you want low(er)-end, you're looking at something like the 301 and the 502; both of which fit closer to a 705/G5/Ultra-G5 than anything else.

Go with your gut and buy the G3's. Work an extra shift, skip your case of beer, open a lemonade stand; whatever it takes.

lmao... lemonade stand.

I'll start saving my cash. The skates are on hold at the shop. only $100 more to go.

The 703 fits exactly the same as the G3. The 703 is a high end skate and is really durable. The G series skates are a little bit lighter and stiffer but in my experience, they don't last as long as the 700 series. The 703 will probably be about $75 cheaper or so and perform almost the same as the G series skate. The 703 is high performance skate and in my opinion, Graf's 700 series skates are a bargain now compared to Easton, CCM and Bauer's top line up. The 700 series skates may use older technology, but they are well built and still a very popular skate. When buying skates, don't fall for all of the technology and advertising. Buy what fits your foot and is comfortable. All of the new skate technology is awesome, but nothing beats a proper fitting boot.

If I find a Graf that fits fine and all that jazz, what is the actual advantage above other skates that a Graf skate has? I mean they have a loyal following for some reason and I havn't been able to gauge why so far? Longevity?

longevity and comfort is what I hear. hoping that this is what I get out of them.

The main advantage is fit. Other brands will just make two high end skates, to fit two different foot types. Graf has a skate for virtually every type of foot, so if you're fitted properly for Grafs, it's a lot more likely that one model is going to fit your foot exactly right. There's really no bigger advantage for one skate over another that's more important than how well it fits.
