Don't feel like making a whole team so I'll pick a line, d-pair, and a tender:

Gretz

Stevie Y

Lemieux

Orr

Borque

Roy

Note: I also agree with mrusse01.

I'd vote for deleting this thread on the basis of that first post.

FORSBERG over Gretzky?

hahahahaha

Not to mention the fact Forsberg played best on Sakic's wing with the Avs.

I don't.

How could you not put Brett ont the all time list? Third in goals, 5 straight 50 goal seasons (72,86,70,54,57), plus his 86 goal season in 90-91. There's no way he couldn't be.

Yet he has Ovechkin and Crosby on there. Those kids are stars NOW. Brett and Bobby are LEGENDS.

C: Steve Yzerman, Lemieux, Gretzky

W: Brett Hull, Bobby Hull, Maurice Richard, Ilya Kovalchuk, Pavel Bure, Kovalev(if he tried)

D: Bobby Orr, Nicklas Lidstrom, Paul Coffey, Denis Potvin

G:Roy, Hasek in his prime

Ehh. Not enough to displace anyone that I did put on the team. In that era, Bernie Nicholls had a 70 goal season, but that doesn't mean he belongs on there. You have to factor in the era and the competition. An 86 goal season in a 21 team NHL that played an 80 game season isn't worth as much as a 50 goal season in a six team league that played a 50 game season. Having Adam Oates feeding him the puck didn't hurt either - it's no coincidence that his 70+ goal seasons coincide with the three years Oates spent in St. Louis.

Edit: Don't tell me about "LEGENDS" and then put Alexei Kovalev on your team. You people just have a love affair with floaters, apparently.

I was just putting together my team and I left Gretzky off cause everyone puts him on their team. I just wanted to see who you guys would want to see playing on a team together and kinda create your own fantasy team.

Look, I'm not a Kovalev ballkisser like a lot of people, but there is no doubt that he may be one of the most skilled players of all time, at least for his era. That's why I put "if he tried" after him. Ovechkin and Crosby have only been in the league a few years, you can't put them in front of people who have already set records and been immortalized in hockey until they have actually done something. As for Kovalchuk being in my list, I believe that is justified since he is the best sniper in the league by far, and no one has scored more goals than him since he's been in the league.

that makes all of zero sense. one of the most skilled of all time during his own time?

I love Kovalchuk, but he is not 'by far' a better sniper than Ovy, Iggy, or any number of other players.

Anyone think Lindros in his prime is worthy of argument? Not for best center of all time, but say a top 4 all time center? In his prime, I think he was one of the most dominating players ever.

No one has scored more goals than Ovechkin since he's came into the league...

Ovechkin-159

Kovalchuk-144

Who ends up on a team would have a great deal to do with what exactly the person putting it together expects. Someone who prizes defensive hockey would keep Gretzky as far away as possible from it.

It is interesting to see the huge proportion of players from the last 25 years on the all-time teams though. I guess it's no different than the idea that Tom Brady is an all-time great.
