If I remember correctly, wasn't this was Easton's first composite shaft? I think it originally retailed around $90 with a blade and I said there was no way anyone would buy that. Of course I also said I would never use a OPS when I saw the original Synergy, so take that with a grain of salt.

Jepp, the good old A/C. It was an aluminumshaft wrapped with a carbon sock for better texture, grip and performance. Nice one!

They were great... my 7100, and my first gen UltraLite- how I miss them. If I recall correctly, I think I remember Mack mentioning he's an A/C affectionado

That shaft brings back memories... haha

I remember having later models of that shaft as well. I remember owning a convex version as well.

Best shaft I've ever used and I have an embarrassingly large stockpile of them.

How large must it be to qualify as embarrasing?

Is that Sean Donovan on the Sharks in the background?

haha, I think you are right. It definitely looks like him. I was wondering who that was in the background.

From the picture he shoots right so the odds are in favour of it being Donovan.

i never used one before, what is so good about it ? Balance, power, feel ?

Way before I even ice skated I played ball hockey... and even back then I had a problem with buying/trying every new stick that came out. The Easton A/C and Ultralite were my favorites paired with wooden Canadien/Koho Revolution blades. I just loved the feel, and they would always be balanced well as opposed to aluminum... and the thing was built like a tank. Add an older Easton composite to the list with those 2... I have no idea the model, but it was black/grey/yellow graphics, and had that "Shark Skin" texture... man, that was a beauty too.

Dunno but god damn you can really see the profile on Stevens skates in that picture.

What's it look like? A long radius?

The best thing about the shaft was its durability and flex. It was a stiff MF but it has the greatest pop on a shot I've ever had. To me it can give off a little "ping" feeling when I shoot and I know I got off a good one. The black/copper ones were golden, then they went to a black weave (just about as good) before finally going to the silver tips and then gold tips and then the Z-Core.

I still think it's the same thing, just re-branded. I guess the materials could look the same but the sticks were shit as A/Gs because the wrap would separate from the aluminum.

I remember how I loved that one. They were unaffordable for me at the time but I got a used one from a player on our pro team. Needles to say it was way to stiff for me but I was so happy. Used it for 4 more years I think. It eventually broke, I cut it and gave it to a younger guy who used for a couple more years. Unreal! Mine had the color scheme turned around, though. Silver at the top and bronze letters I think. Was that a different model?

Now I actually didn't have that problem with the A/G's but did have a couple of the second generation, or maybe third (the all black ones), of the A/C's where the wrap separated from the aluminum.

That's really weird. The only issues I had with the first two gens were overheating, either by me or the pro shop guy who'd change blades. That's obviously not the shaft's fault though. The A/Gs were where I had some problems with separation at the wrap/aluminum tip. The worst were the ones with the Ultra Lite wrap though, I think those were the 6000s.

You guys talking about the brown A/G´s that came out about the same time as the 2nd year Ultra-Lites? Those came apart from the aluminum indeed. The later ones (black/blue or black/yellow) were better but alot more boxy. Couldn´t use them. Smae with the later UL´s. Too boxy.
