With just one or two games left for the teams competing for that final 8th spot in the East, who's your pick to make it in?

I have to say I am a bit worried about the Flyers because they play the Pens and Devils to close out the season....

I'll be pretty pissed if Boston gets left out (becuase I'm a Boston fan). The Flyers have some work to do but they do have a game at hand over the Caps. Your Caps need to win their last game against the Panthers and hope Boston or Philly chokes. And I hope to god, if Boston holds their spot, that they don't play the Habs first round.

If the bruins/sens game ends in regulation tonight, and the caps win tomorrow they are in. If the flyers lose one of their games, either in regulation or OT, and the caps win, they are in.

Caps hold tiebreakers on sens, bruins and flyers. If the canes get beat in regulation by the panthers tonight, and the caps win, they are in.

Honestly, the flyers look most dangerous to fall out. Pens will want to solidify the top spot in the east, and the devils will want to make sure they have the home advantage against the rags (thats more likely than not going to be the 4/5 matchup).

However, the caps are the only team knocking on the door who do not control their own destiny, so they may be on the outside looking in.

After tonight, the picture becomes a whole lot clearer, because we will know where they stand with the canes, bruins, sens and flyers.

I organized a group of 60 from our charity hockey games to be in section 107 tomorrow.

If it's a win and you are in thing tomorrow night, the place will be mental.

MENTAL!!!!

Good break down. Tonight is a big night in the eastern conference. GO B'S!!!!!

Whatever happens please for the love of god end that game in regulation. Id love to see B's up 5-1 or 6-1 by end of the 2nd or other way around. You guys don't need that heartattack of an OT game ;)

God please no. I hate when he loses a shootout and does his pissed off spins and whips then charges off the ice like a mad man. I can't take the suspense. It was ebough when the Patriots choked this year, I can't handle the B's missing the playoffs.

I think the standings will finish as they are now 1-9. Some interesting matchups:

Pittsburg vs. Washington - I'd pick Pittsburgh to win

Montreal vs. Boston - Montreal winning

Carolina vs. Ottawa - Ottawa winning

New York vs. New Jersey - Rangers winning

Of course anything could happen in a league with this much parody. As a Habs fan this is my dream: Habs 1st, Bruins 8th, Flyers 7th. I think it'd be exciting to have Ovechkin and the Caps in the playoffs, but I'd rather have them take the Canes spot and finish 3rd rather than 7th or 8th. Montreal has dominated the Bruins this year and play well against the Flyers so I'd expect a first round win against the Bruins and if the Flyers could upset the Pens for them then that would make for a nice second round. The Caps, Sens or Canes would be tougher first round matches for Montreal than the Bruins or Flyers. I'll be happy if it ends up Habs/Bruins in the first round anyway and would enjoy seeing Ovechkin in the playoffs...playing against teams other than the Habs.

As much as I want the Flyers to get in the Playoffs I am pretty worried that they won't make it. The Caps are playing very well of late and are on a winning streak. The Flyers have to close out against two very strong teams and that might bite them in the ass. I'm a Flyers fan and obviously I want them to get in, but the picture isn't looking too good for them

I don't know if it was so much the Pats choking as it was the Giants executing. Either way, it was a bummer to watch.

I won't be too disappointed if the B's don't make it this year. If they do it will be a quick exit. Next year, if they add a little scoring over the summer, will be the year to watch the B's.

The season coming down to this weekend for so many teams is great.

B's won, Canes lost = B's are safe!!! Philly is safe now too, its just down to the Caps beating the Panthers to hold the 3rd spot. You're right about the early exit for the Bruin's though chippa, I know my hopes will be crushed but I'll try and enjoy it while it lasts.

Never in my life would I have expected to see my Flyers, Sixers, and Phillies make it to the Playoffs in one year.

I would have liked to see the Habs face the Bruin's in the first round but that doesn't appear like it's going to happen. It'd be interesting to see if they wind up playing the Sens not only for the all Canadian aspect but that would most likely mean an all Pennsylvania mathcup as well which would be a grudge match. The Sens have the Habs number overall this season but as of late it seems to be the other way around. I was hoping to see Carolina knock out the Caps as well because the Canes would be an easier team to beat imo, and I would much rather play against them than the Caps right now. Either way I don't like the 3 point games at all, if it were my way you'd get 2 points for a win in regulation, OT win or just 1 for a shootout win and nothing for a loss no matter how you lose. Oh and I'd suggest if they're going to hang on to this over the glass penalty rule, dump it when the playoffs start..just my $.02

Well, so far the hockey gods look to be on your Caps side, and now they control their own destiny, as it were. Win or OT tonight, and they're in. But the Panthers are going to be tough as they have nothing to lose here and will play without abandon.

As for the 4th-8th seeding, anything can happen. Smokey, you can break that down for us if you are so inclined....I need to eat and get to the rink!

GO FLYERS!!!
