Easton Sticks and CCM U+

Recommended Posts

Im long overdue for a stick after buying two Koho Revolution 4490's which I thought were the real light model that I had before with the really thin blade and were no longer made, but they turned out to be a wrong model which are real heavy, my mistake. So ive been debating for a long time on wether to get the Easton SE, Easton Stealth S17 or preorder the CCM U+ all in no grip. Im looking to buy the S17 however Im not sure about its durability involving the eliptical part on the shaft. I also have to wait for the S17 to get in stock at my LHS. Now the SE is about 40 bucks cheaper and I still see it in the NHL a lot, but my last Easton Synergy SL was trash, the heel fell apart immediately and I voewed never to buy a similar made Synergy stick and I dont know if the SE has the blade made the same way as the SL. Finally the CCM U+, it's only $180 and I wouldn't mind trying out a new series for once. If its anything comparable to the S17 then I would probably preorder it if it wouldn't take too long. I only play high school hockey and I don't think I have to worry about breaking anything on shots as I don't have a super slap shot or anything. Any input would be great I looked around and you guys know a lot thanks.

from what ive heard, the SE is not very durable, it will not last a long period of time, but that also depends on what level you play at. the s17 apparently goes soft rather quickly, but ive only read reviews about it. i odnt know anything about the U+ but it is meant to be pretty good, i have no clue about its durability. i havent used any of the sticks, but these are just from reviews ive read. maybe some of the other members can chime in with personla experience.

i would recommend doing some research on this board. Use all the reviews and topics on the various sticks submitted by members to help you with your next choice. Good luck

I did I read the entire CCM U+ post and a big S17 post, but I can't find anywhere that says anything about how the Easton SE Elite heels are compared to the previous SL models.

other than the two above me ive used both the s17 and the se my se held up nicley but the s17 blade went soft rather quickly and the shaft ended up breaking on the elyptical part.

i wasnt a fan of the s17 too light for my liking and the feel wasnt that good, once again all prefrence

if you're willing to try other brands, warrior is a pretty good choice as well. Just picked up the dolomite and its holding up pretty well. but I think a good way is just to look up on reviews from other users on this board good luck with your pick!

Right now I dont have to worry about breaking a stick taking shots, but did it break from a shot or from s slash? I don't mind having a light stick because Im fairly fast and my stick is slowing me down a bit. What do you mean the blade went soft? It broke in too much?

The SE now uses a different blade than the (SL NANOTUBE) and for what it's worth the SE blade is only hyped by the feel not anywhere do they rave or promote the strength of the new blade on the SE. I personally have not used an SE one piece only the shafts with Inno blades. All the guys I know that bought them have ALL broken or cracked the blades.

As for the CCM U+, the only guy I saw using one or at least a stick with the CCM U+ graphics was Shane Doan and I dont think it was a U+ because the entire blade is black where as with the U+ the heel is white.

Are you currently using a tree trunk as a stick?

No it just slows me down slightly as compared to my Easton SL.

If a stick slows you down, then you really need to hit the gym.

Try switching to a jersey with cut off sleeves, and only drink half as much water as you normally do during a game. Those two moves alone will shave off a lot more weight then a stick change. I think you'll see a VERY noticeable difference in your speed if you do these things.

Ill try the water, but I dont think I can cut off my sleeves for a league game.
