Cage Mount Jofa 690

Recommended Posts

So I'm trying to swap my combo to my other helmet and but I can't get it off my 690. The screws just spin when I try to loosen it and it does the same when I turn the other way. IIRC, the nut is plastic embedded into the EPP, so I'm guessing the EPP just wore out and the nut spins since it has no grab. Any suggestions in getting the combo off?

Yeah, you have to grab it from the other side somehow. I used a pair of pliers, kind of a bitch but it worked. Since you got a new helmet. No need to worry about wrecking the old one trying access those nuts.

when I have a really bad one, I use rivet cutters and cut the screw. Then pull out the female hardware from the back

There should be slots in the metal nut that you can put a slotted screwdriver into from the back (plastic) side, going up the middle of the plastic ring and 3 struts.

IIRC, the metal nut has a rectangular tab that is shaped to fit into a slot in the inside of the helmet's plastic shell; if the slot is worn away the nut will just spin around.
