Compound Radius

Recommended Posts

I need a refresher on my current steel(LS2) and I'll also need a profiling on a set of 2.1 steel. Well my go-to guy is a no-go and my LHS doesn't profile, and probably doesnt know what a compound profiling is. I need someone that does good work that I can mail my runners off to(can't not have my skates).

So who does compound profilings?

Just to save people from asking: What is a compound radius?

I got a couple guys, now based on recommendations.

Being that one is recommended from my old go-to guy, I trust him. Haven't sent the PM yet as Bob did respond to my email before he hopped on a plane. Although he did recommend something I'm not to fond of...

I do have some time before my 2.1 runners are on their way, so I think I can wait for Bob to get back.

FWIW i'm experimenting with this as well - Bob did mine and so far (handful of skates and one game) I'm pretty pleased with it - the major improvement so far has seemed to be on pivots - just feels more comfortable for some reason.

Yeah, I've already skated on a compound radius, definitely nice. but I'm NOT going to let him talk me into a 7/13, no chance in hell.

I've been skating on a 7/13 that bob did....... Something just doesn't feel right....not sure what it is. People have told me I've skated well, but I just don't feel right. I'm going to back to my 9ft' that's where I feel most comfortable.

^^^ agreed JR...the problem is that unfortunately there are very few graduates from that school; and they are hard to find. :(

Hmm... N14 ... did you let Bob know the compound was not working for you? I have had Bob work my steel for a few years now and he is always willing to work with you "old school" as best as can be done through the mail. I confident he would work with you to correct your problem.

9-10 or 9.5-10.5 are my favorite profiles. I'm on an 11" right now, but I think I will go back to the 9.5-10.5, that was skating perfection IMO.

Yes, our customers always have the option to change their radius

if they are not happy with what we select. There are no extra charges and one

can change as many times as they like.

we are very successful at selecting profiles for customers and always listen to their needs.

Our philosophy though is to fit the customer with what we feel may work best for them and we encourage them to try different things. If not, well everyone would still be skating on 3/8 and factory radius.

As for a 7' in the front, we've found it works quite well for most skaters. The 9/10 is ok, but so much more can be gotten out of a skate. The difference between 9 and 10 is so little.

...the difference between 1/2" and 9/16" hollow is very small too. The difference of 1/16" of forward lean is very small as well... It's all noticeable when you skate.
