Gloves with finger tip protection

Recommended Posts

I see in the description of the Fury Aeroflex Classic gloves that they have "Finger tip protection".

http://www.hockeygiant.com/fryafxcglvsr.html

Does anyone have these gloves? And if so can you explain specifically how they achieve the finger tip protection. Is there actual padding in the finger tip, or is the padding of the finger extended over the tip?

Lastly; does any know of any other glove with this "feature"?

Thanks

-Lex

By 'fingertip' protection, maybe they are referring to the plastic inserts in the fingers (and other areas of the hand) that some gloves have. Kind of like 'Nike Dri-Fit/Fit Dri', 'Under Armor Heatgear', 'Reebok Play Dry' are all pretty much the same thing.

Actually, it's a padding that extends past the finger nail like standard gloves (and yes, I have a pair).

They extend out like sort of a diamond (not in a way that gets in the way of gripping or closing your hand). The idea is that when you hold the stick the extra padding will help against slashes across your lower hand that leave your finger tips exposed.

As for other gloves that offer the feature, not 100% positive, but could have sworn I'd seen some Sande glove photos that might have something similar (check out Sande's website).

That sounds like exactly what I looking for. I have got a few hacks on my lower hand over the years that were pretty rough, unintentional and otherwise. :P

So other than that how do you like the gloves?

The original tapered fingers, yes.

The tip extended past the end of the finger.

Which model? Must be an old one as I've not seen them on any recently.

I haven't tried them yet actually. Got a good deal for them only (pro stocks)and am waiting for my current ones to give out (although, they're holding out quite well). I'd gotten a exposed fracture across the tip of my ring finger from a slash which is why I was interested in them. I'd gotten some Salmings and the fingers were a bit longer, so I didn't rush the Fury's into use right away.

For interior comfort, they're not as supple on the interior as my Salmings, but seem quite protective. Just wish they came in a 15 instead of a 14. Just gripping them at home it seems like they should do the trick for protection.

I was thinking of putting mine on Ebay as my Salmings continue to hold up well.

Forgot to mention - I can try to remember to post a pic tonight.

This seems like a pretty good idea. i played last year with a guy who caught a slapper off the tip of his finger. It split his finger wide open, blood everywhere. The bone ended up sticking out and had to have a pin in it. I make sure I keep the backs of my hands facing the shooter when I block shots. He went palms up, exposing his finger tips. Padding down the finger tips would have helped.

Sorry... got distracted and forgot...

These are the ones, though...

Not a great angle on the finger tips to be honest so will try again tomorrow night (wrote myself a reminder this time)

I would look into the Sande gloves as well. Their padding extend past the finger tips, tapering out. THat's what I am using currently and I love them.
