arrows91 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 thankd for the replies, but the main problem is that the placement of the new kidney will be sitting on my pelvis, so im having trouble finding protection for it as its in such an off position.

That area should be covered by your pants and any extra protection is probably going to restrict your mobility pretty significantly.
Monty22 833 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Bring your pants to your surgeon and see what he thinks- good to go as is or additional padding needed.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 hope it all goes well for you.like monty22 mentioned, bring the pants to the doc and have him look at it... if its not significant enough, you can get the pants modified yourself to add additional protection. Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 A lot of football girdles offer extended kidney protection that a lot of hockey pads simply don't offer. You could try and use a football pad setup under a hockey shell. Just a thought....and most definitely good luck with your surgery.
Steve_v3 289 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Bring your pants to your surgeon and see what he thinks- good to go as is or additional padding needed.I would start with your surgeon for sure. I had a liver transplant and I asked my surgeon. He told me how much padding and where it should be. In my situation he was more concerned with a collision with another player or the boards. Good luck with the transplant!
