AK27 Shaft

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I have just recently bought an AK27 shaft off of ebay. I got it about a week ago and I was wondering what the flex was. I tried emailing the guy who sold it to me but he has not responded yet.

Anyways the shaft is very stiff (can barley move it and I'm 150 pounds, but thats how I like my shafts) on the shaft it says " Flex 160" do you guys think it's right??

I put in a 10.5 cm butt end and an AK27 blade.

So, could anybody tell me if this flex is right and where I could buy another shaft like this (not on ebay)

From looking at the Flex Chart on here, my guess is that its over 120 flex compared to Eastons Flex. Easton: 120 Flex = Inno(Warrior I'm guessing) 180 flex. Also you added a 10.5cm butt end to it so I'm guessing thats another 12 flex added to the shaft. Im guessing that the stick is +132 flex

thanks I would of never of guessed that, but I knew that it couldn't be 160 flex.

Not you're average shaft for a 15 year old eh!

but I love it.

Thanks again

actually, if he added a butt-end, it would reduce the stiffness and add flex... still, it's one stiff shaft!

Thats what I thought but I was not sure. So what would the flex be approximately?

The Warrior web site says that shaft is available in 85 and 100 flex. ???

I have the Innovative Fedorov shaft and it said something off the wall like 240 flex or something...but I believe it is actually 110.

Dont know if that helps but if you go to warriorhockey.com you can check out the info...

240 is 100, this is most likely a pro stick.

Are you located in New England?

What kind of a butt end did you pu into it? might help people get the appoximent flex a bit better.

PS: about 120 pounds with just over a 100 flex here :)

It's about 10.5 cm and it's just a wood

I agree, I mean he should be in a circus or something.

To answer that question: When I was younger (5-12) I got a bunch of free shafts once the Jr.B players broke them, so I would cut down a 100 flex shaft down to my size (I was about 4 foot 10 when I was 12) so they were very very stiff. Once I was 13 the trainer retired from the team so I got no more free shafts, and I started to use the 110 flex one-piece sticks. I could never get use to them so I was just searching on ebay for a new shaft and I found this AK27 shaft and once I got it, I fell in love with the stiff shaft again, I get a lot of questions on how in the hell I shoot with this shaft but last season I broke about 12 110 flex once-piece stick, I found the 110 shafts to be way to whippy, I finally found a stiff enough shaft for me.

It doesn't effect my wrist, slap, snap, or backhand shots (I have the hardest shot on my bantam major team).

So now I'm trying to find at least one more AK 27 shaft for the up coming hockey season. Now I'm 15, I'm 5 foot 8 inches and 150 pounds.

I'm thinking that you're breaking sticks not because a 110 is too whippy, but because your slapshot technique might be off.

Maybe but I still can't get use to the 110 so I'm not using them any more. Everything feels too different with the 110 all my shots I haven't really broken any on my slap shots. I just feel more comfortable with a very stiff shaft, it's the kind of shaft I have used most of my life so I'm going back to it now.

But this season I have played 100 games including tournaments plus two practices a week

Yeah, I cleaned them out of some 160s and 180s a long time ago b/c I figured they wouldn't get more in.

Dose anybody else know where I could get another shaft like that it dosen't have to be warrior. But I would like to stay away from easton I have really bad luck with the easton, I find they break and chip very easily. they flex on my shaft say "Flex 160"

keep looking. the shaft you want is pro stock so you can find them on ebay or a special store that sells prostocks.

What are some special stores that sells prostock shafts in southern ontario or buffalo new york ?? or some stores that sells prostock and ships to Canada. I'm looking for shipping that doesn't cost me a lot of money

Edit: I found one shaft but it's tapered and I can't fit the blade that I like. (easton CNT replacement blade lidstrom curve)
