Best shin pad for lateral support

Recommended Posts

Well this is a lateral support brace;

Although that might be a little extreme :P

....hmmm, greater lateral support is mentioned here for the 2007 Easton Synergy 300

But those aren't exactly top of the line :P

EDIT:

Intersting.....I just found this too:

Someone patented the idea.

Bauer had a shinguard back in the early 90's that had a brace incorperated into it. Other tahn that, I'm not aware of any pad that has any sort of brace like support. I would try to find one that fits over whatever type of support you require.

I have a pair of RBK 4k shins that have a pretty wide kneecap. I also have a pair of Jofa 3000 (?) shins that are much narrower in the kneecap. I tweaked

my knee a while back and have some patella pain as a result. The narrower Jofa pads seem to help since they fit more closely to my knee and they also wrap around the knee joint better. It may very well be they make no difference other than it feels more secure because of the narrower fit. I would suggest looking for a narrower shin pad. especially in the kneecap.

The RBK 4k has a nice wide kneecap if you do need a brace, which you may need to consider if you are asking about lateral support.

Will you be wearing a brace underneath the shinpads? If you are having issues with your knee, you should not rely on shinpads to provide support. You should be using a brace.

Yeah....right now I wear a this under my shin pad. It works well enough, but it got me thinking if any had ever been about integrated into the pad itself.

You're going to be better off getting a knee brace that fits you well and finding a pad that will accomodate that than trying to find a one piece solution. There just isn't a big enough market for any major manufacturer.

I wear Innovation Sports C180 knee braces, and it fits under my mission subzero shin pads. a little more bulky, but the braces give me the lateral support i think you are looking for.
