Cost of shipping a stick?

Recommended Posts

As Kovy said, I've seen some save in shipping cost by wrapping it in bubble wrap instead of a box (saves oversized shipping). Use a corp discount and can shave some coinage too.

SO, again, pretty much not a straight forward answer I'm afraid.

I use bubble wrap on the shaft and a piece of cardboard for the blade.

This seems to be the most common way to ship sticks, many that I have received have came like that, so that is now how I send mine out.

I guess that would make it alot cheaper. Everytime I sent a stick it was a huge box that had to be considered oversized and all sort of crapola such as that.

The one time I sent a stick not in a box to a member on here it got broke :-/ lol

Back before i had custom boxes made up i used to wrap the blade with cardboard and then take a black trash bag or black poly wrap and cover the stick then tape both ends.. Shipping costs are somewhat varied but i have it down pretty good. Through USPS

USA- $6-10 depending where your shipping it to in the US

Canada- $19.20

Europe- $28-35 depending where once again

Like others have said, I've gotten by with USPS by bubble wrapping the entire stick and shipping ended up being about ~$8 (from California to New York). I tried to do UPS once and tried to make me put the stick in a cardboard box and wanted $70 to ship it. Might have just been that particular UPS Store, but it's been USPS ever since for me.

USPS has been known to literally eat some of the sticks i ship.. Ive gotten boxes back that look like Jaws got a hold of it. From what the post office tells me is that the stick boxes are so long that they sometimes get stuck on the conveyer belts and all the weight just snaps them.. But that happens with all services and atleast they cover the breakages!!
