Outfitting a hockey program

Well, your likely not going to find anyone who is going to sell at wholesale prices, what incentive is it for them. You can however get a good discount if you buy in bulk, organizational discount so to speak. So, suggest going down to your local LHS, tell them what you want and get a bid. That's normally how it's done. Some of the manufacturers give dealers additional discounts for organization orders and they will pass that on to you.

My rink just ordered OneGoal equipment packages for our learn to play youth program.

As far as the older kids go, right now is a great time to order as companies are sending out their closeout lists. (Not sure if you're associated with a rink or have a local LHS nearby, but if your hockey director/shop manager has access to lists try working with them)

Work with local businesses to help sponsor the equipment packages by putting their business logo on a sleeve of the kids' jerseys.

Ice Warehouse (like many other wholesalers) has a team sales office. If you would like the director of that department, let me know and I'll hook you up with him and let him know that you will be calling him.

I know it's slighty off topic, but what my hometown in Mass does, is they hold a "gear exchange" with an equipment bank, especially for the little guys who outgrow it before it's even worn in. Great for Mite programs, etc. Not sure what level you're looking to outfit, but something to keep in mind once the program is established.

a great idea that does not happen enough. short term.... i lose sales, but long term.... MORE HOCKEY PLAYERS. i am all for these sort of things as they help keep the sport affordable and GROW it.

Believe it or not Zac, it's starting to happen a little more and more every season. Especially in more diverse areas in Greater Boston. The Boston Bruins Foundation does a lot of work, sending speakers like Willie O'Ree to inner city youth groups and whatnot to open up multi-cultural families to hockey. It's great to see.

Ant

Willie is awesome. i have met him a few times.... handshake like a bear.... big paws and a STRONG grip. i think the reason you see more swap programs is because of how the cost of everything around us keeps going up. i am all for what is takes to GROW our game.
