one75 skate update?

Recommended Posts

hey yall, im moving to europe in a month and need a pair of good durable skates to last me a season or two. ive narrowed it down to the one90's, one75's, and vapor xxxx's. i think the performance aspect is very close on all so i just want the most durable. ive searched on here and saw mixed feelings with the one90's nothing on the one75's, and it seems like the xxxx's are tanks which is getting me to lean that way. anyone who has the one75's can you tell me how there holding up? thanks

one90 and one75 are basically same skate..........i have one75 and love them, i believe they are tanks as they are finally broken in. I play 4 times a week and have had them for 3 weeks. Still look brand new. The holders take the most abuse.

I'm pretty sure the mixed reviews on the One90's durability are from the holders. I know they had a tendency to break.

Since the 75's and 90's are essentialy the same skate, (except for the holders), go with which ever one fits your foot. I know the 90's were not very deep.

well i read that the outsoles are the same but the one75 has more padding and is softer inside.... but what im talking about the one90's is the tendon guard breaking and the whole backing coming right off. i was wondering if they fixed that with the one75. thanks for the replies guys

I personally would go for the Vapor XXXX's. They seem to be very durable skates, judging from my XXII's which seem to be holding up incredibly well.

All I will say is, good luck finding a pair of skates that are great for you, BUT, do make sure you buy them in the US and not over here in Europe ;) Unless you are rich ovcourse

re the question - I can confirm that XXXX are great durability wise, and One90 had way too many problems.

But the most important part is that all 3 skates would fit slightly differently, so considering that fit is the most important part of buying skates (it was said way to many times but didn't really sink with me until my struggle with XXXX) I'd strongly suggest trying all of them & finding what fits best.

case to point - my recent experience with XXXX - turned out they didn't fit me well (too narrow, not enough volume, way too stiff in the wrong places - but felt Ok in store), so I struggled with them for a few weeks before finally biting the bullet & getting S15 - they fit like a dream & I've been skating like never before, BUT the durability of S15 is crap - glue is coming off etc

regardless - I like them at the moment, and so wouldn't switch back to XXXX even though they were a LOT more durable.

long story short - durability is an important factor, but by any means not THE most imporant (fit is).

Having the one75 the tendon guard seems like it could break off.........but reading on skating posture if you are a good+ skater you should never be on the tendon guard.......also my one75's came with LS2 (white holder) but not the LS2.1 (clear bluish/purple holder)

most of the problems with the tendon guard on the One90's was from people pushing/pulling on the tendon gaurd when they were taking off their skates

the tendon guard needs to be flexible, as players with strong long skating strides will flex the tendon guard at the end of a stride with their calves

yeah I can see that happening, did that the first time............i pull them off by the boot now

even scared when putting in my bag because one skate goes in upside down

I believe the One90 and One75 are similar skates but the new "5" series skates have added volume..From what I understand the One75 has a little bit more volume than the One90...even though they're similar.
