Cheesehead 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 premier hockey in castle shannon. probly about twenty minutes away. lots of stuff and and great serviceIm pretty sure thats in the Ice Castle. I was there three weeks ago. It is a small shop but it has a decent amount of stuff. Most of the sticks there are 100 flex (at least the right handed ones). There is also the Peranis. Im not sure how far away it is, i don't remember. What exactly are you looking for? Peranis seemed like it would have a lot more stuff than it did, so it was a bit disappointing. It was really wierd that it didn't have a single right handed SyNergy SE. I don't live in Pittsburgh, or Pennsylvania for that matter, but i can try to help you from memory being up there 3 times before, the most recent being 3 weeks ago. Di Matteo98 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 I'm going to be buying some shin pads and shoulder pads not 100 % sure what I want at this moment but I will have to try somethings on.Is the Peranis in Pittsburgh service similar to the service in London, Ontario???If so I wouldn't consider going. Chadd 916 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Peranis is about 20 minutes from PNC. The selection was pretty weak every time I was there, though they did usually have a little pro stock to pick through. That's where I got my first Steve Sullivan Response, damn I loved that curve. Ko Sports is a little farther away, I had a really bad experience there but some of our members say good things about them.
hockeytim18 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Ko Sports is by the far the best back here. Just ask and they probably have it in the house full of gear behind their shop.
WSjo22 1 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Perani's is useful if your looking for discounted gear....other than that their selection is pretty much poop....Ko Sports is def. worth the 25min. drive if you have the time. Selection is really good and service is outstanding for the most part
Di Matteo98 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 Can you guys please give me an address to Ko sports.I'm from Ontario so I don't really know the area at all (besides walking distance from PNC park)Coming from the buffalo, new york/ fort erie border would that be 25 minutes less or more?Me and my dad have the time were going to be doing the same thing as last year staying in the same hotel (hampton inn the hotel is in walking distance from the park) so were going to be leaving in the morning I think my dad said around 7am get there around 11am then were going to go to Ko sports since you guys say they have a lot of good hockey stuff their (we didn't do that last year) . and then go see the game @ night. It's not set in stone yet for what day were going but I want to see the pirates play the Cincinnati reds. I want Bronson Arroyo to pitch for the Reds to increase my chances to catch a homer with his 19 homers given up this season and his 5.97 ERA and of course see Griffey Jr. play.At ko sports what are there prices like? Thanks for all your help
Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 I love ko sports...tons of selection, staff is good everytime I go. When I lived in PA that was the only place I would let touch my skates for a long long time.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 http://www.kosports.com/directions.htmlAddress is at the bottom of the page. It is located south of Pittsburgh but going around lunchtime shouldn't be a problem.

Di Matteo98 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2008 Ya they suck but thats ok. I have always loved the red soxs since I saw my first game in T.O. against the Soxs when I was 2 or 3. so I was the first in my family not to like the Jays.but I would like to see Jason Bay, but if not that ok too. vectoranalysisgo 3 Report post Posted July 15, 2008 Man.. you don't often hear people say they're coming to Pittsburgh from out of town to watch the Pirates....I second Ko Sports- it's not exactly "close" to PNC Park, which is in the city- but it's worth a little drive down to Canonsburg- it's probably about 30 minutes from the city itself if you don't go out during rush hour. Good stock selection and great service (usually) as well.

I like the Pirates, even though they suck. (there my 2nd fav team. my fav team is Boston) but I hope they don't trade away Jason Bay, I have his jersey that I will be wearing during the game but up to Pittsburgh I will be wearing my Boston jersey. So if you see someone around Pittsburgh in a Red Boston jersey or white Jason Bay jersey it's me!
start_today 773 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 The Perani's here in Pgh is a bummer. I wouldn't take the time to go out there. It's mostly empty racks this time of year. They have sticks, but nothing you can't find somewhere else. A lot of the guys that work there are way to busy texting their friends to be bothered to help you with anything, and will passively let you know it when they stand up (that's not to say ALL of them, because I've had a couple people go out of their way to help me). I came from 4 and a half hours away to see a Knights game.all of the staff their were all talking to each other and texting their friends! that gets me so mad, all I went in their for is getting a ccm v 10 helmet that they didn't even have in stock. They didn't even know that ccm made the v 10 helmets, they had to call their manager to see if they had any in stock
chef_ducky 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 I went to a Sportschek in Guelph. I asked if they have the Vector 10, and the guy working in the hockey section said, "CCM makes helmets, but Tacks makes good ones". I was also at a restaurant in Guelph where the guy would come take our order and text message his buddy at the same time.
