Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 Hi all. Im just wondering what you guys do to stop the tape on the bottom of your stick blade from sticking so much on the inline surface? I currently play on Orb court (see pic) and find the black tape sticks quite allot to the inline surface when Im receiving and shooting. I used to use candle wax, but was wondering if there is something with more longevity that I can rub/place on the blade bottom to make it more slick?
malcb33 97 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 Bee's wax! It lasts a lot longer than candle wax and it soaks right into the tape. When I was playing on a smooth concrete floor one application of Bee's wax was lasting 1.5 hours.

hockeydoc 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 Take a razor blade and cut the bottom of the tape off.+1I don't have tape at the bottom of my stick for all those issues.I either cut it off, or just use a few strips horizontally across face/back of blade. Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 Need to protect the "fragile" comp blade Im using. Im really heavy on my blades and go through them quickly. If I keep a full wrap of tape they last longer. Incidently I used to do that with ABS heads. Maybe thats another option. Damn wood hossels! :(

flyweightphantom 1 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 +3 on the horizontal strips or the razor blade. I'm currently doing the strips as I switch between both styles. Never felt comfortable with a full tape up job in roller.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 On a rough surface, cut the bottom of the tape. On a smoother surface, baby powder.
15yearsofhistory 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 Wear the tape down by either rubbing it on the surface or taking a rubber puck and grinding it down.
Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 I use a light coating of spray adhesive on the blade just to make it tacky, and then do my full wrap with tape on the blade. If it is new tape then I simply take about a dozen slap shots in warmups....problem solved, tape on the bottom of the blade worn down. ;)
Hoffer 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 Wear the tape down by either rubbing it on the surface or taking a rubber puck and grinding it down. This is what I do as well. Just rub the bottom of your stick back and fourth on the surface in warm ups.

hockeytim18 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 Before you start playing rub the bottom of the blade on the rink near the boards. Rub it until there's no more marks coming off of it and this will help quite a bit.
