LI Pro Shops

Recommended Posts

hey guys, Ive been looking to try on a pair of mission xp skates but i cant seem to find any hockey stores around that actually carry them. Anyone have suggestions to places I could go.

places ive tried:

Plaza surf n sports.

The Rinx Pro Shop.

Superior pro shop

and one stop hockey.

If anyone has other stores in mind that are having good deals on any skates feel free to shout them out to. thanks

I've tried almost all those places as well and had no luck finding what I was looking for. Never checked out One Stop. I was particularly disappointed with the selection at Plaza because they used to be the place for everything hockey a few years ago.

Have you tried Amity Harbor Sports? I was very impressed with their selection of hockey gear... lots of high end stuff and a big wall of skates.

Try amity harbor sports. I was there a few days ago and its my main LHS. I remember seeing 1 pair of mission ice skates not sure on the model though. Also I play with the owner of wheelin willies in wantaugh. Nice guy i would check his place out too.

The Rinx and Superior are the same pro shop in two different locations both run by Port Jeff Sports I dislike both their prices are jacked up like no other. I would try play it again in Carle Place they had a great selection of skates last time I was there. Their prices I'm not sure how good they are (i wasn't in the market for skates at the time). As far as shops on Long Island other then the ones you named and Play it Again i'm unsure of where else to look.

ya i know there the same company i actually tried calling port jeff sports and they didnt sell hockey equipment. I called amity harbor sports. they didnt have them in my size sadly but i wished they did the guy on the phone seemed to be very friendly and knowledgable of the skate. Im going to have to try them out next time i need some new equipment. he also assured me that if i got an EE width in mission i would be fine. would you guys say that the 11 EE mission is almost equivilant to a 9 D ccm v.10

i know that one stop hockey shop in freeport carrys easton. he wont carry mission products but if you were to be looking for twigs or easton pro stock nylon mitts, he's your best bet.

You won't find them in stock on the Island. You'll need to order. As far as getting someone knowledgable good luck! The best skate fitter out there is at Sports Plus in NHP but they don't carry Mission. Play it Again sucks....and Amity doesn't know squat either. I don't know them that well at Wheelin Willies but I know they have an account with Mission so at least he can order them for you. My advice.. by Bauer and go to NHP!

vic in wheelin willies is an idiot thought. if you ever go to him for a sharpening, be aware that it wont be balanced nor have a good finish. he's overpriced and unreliable. it took him 3 months to send back a pair of mission s400's for me.

my friend who works at dix hills says he likes that guy too. I actually have never gotten my skates sharpened (didn't start playing ice hockey till college) on Long Island I get them done up in Albany.

i useally use mike in iceland and or just wait out until i go back up to school in buffalo since every place seems to mess up the steel when they sharpen around here. dix hills and amity harbor sports are just a little too far away for me just to get a sharpening.

No question - hands down - Mike at Iceland in New Hyde Park. Dante will only cut a 1/2 inch hollow and won't change anything. And NEVER let anyone other than him do them... even Andy. Amity did a decent job the only time I went there but there was a gritty texture. The Rinx is ok.... Iceworks/Skate for Gold is ok. Never go to Wheelin Willies or Play It Again.

I usually get mine done at the Rinx and they have been pretty good over the years. My last sharpening was done at Amity Harbor when I got my skates new and they did a really nice job. I really wish I lived closer to them but I live maybe 10 minutes away from the Rinx. I remember a while back, maybe 9 years ago, getting my Bauer 4000's butchered at Sports Plus in Lake Grove before they closed up. I really thought I was going to have to replace the steel but I took them over to Stan at the Rinx and he fixed them up.

got my skates done by vic. And what ever he did to my skates worked lol. I was skating well last night.

Sort of like playing russian roulette with your skates. Glad it worked for out this time. Next time you might eat a bullet!
