i still am using the traditional garter and separate cup combo. but i was looking at those compression shorts by shockdoctor etc. and was wondering how people like them. do they keep the cup in place well?

Yeh, cup stays in place but I wouldn't say any of the ones I've used have kept my junk in place that well, I'd say I have around a 20% chance if I get hit below that the cups gonna leave a nice stamp mark somewhere on my regions. The velcro's only seems to work for me also if I cut a slit through on my socks to match up each side of the velcro.

thats one thing i noticed a while back when i had a similar product. i could not get the cup to go low enough if you know what i mean. all low hanging fruit needs to be in there also.

i do like that one with the garters though. velcro wears out over time.

I find that the Synergy compression pants do it all. Great support high and low. Keep you in place and have great placement of the velcro. I thought about getting an old Jofa cup to put in the pant but not sure if it would fit.

I use a pair shock doctor full lengths. I love them. The cup stays put very well. It's also part carbon and those few grams of weight savings add 1-2 mph to your slapshot.

i use a shocdoctor compression one and the first time i used it my legs went numb..i recomend it if you have smaller legs. ive had it for 3 years and its pretty much done. holes everywere. and yes the cup sits high. the berries dont get much protection

I've used a couple different Shock Doctor compression jocks (shots and pants), and neither caused problems. I'd say I have average size legs.

However, the stupid little cup doesn't do much for protecting the boys, so I'm still hoping to get one of those Nutty Buddy cups before next season.

thats what i was afraid of. so the pouch is pretty tight? how many times were your legs numb?

i lost feeling in my legs a few times lol. maybe 3? but the black strips ripped eventually and they were very comfortable. but i wouldnt say protective. i gave this guy a smirk when he missed a hit on me and he came from behind and hit my main men with his stick then pulled his stick blade and myself and the babies backwards.....i'll just say it hurt..bad. and there was some redness down under

I still use a garter because my favorite shorts are UnderArmour (heavy compression) and Mizuno (less compression) slider shorts for baseball/softball. They seem the best at positioning & not overheating, along with some added form-fitting padding on hip bones (I luckily first tried them because I mostly just play in the bottom shell only of Tackla 5000pro).

also, this time of year they should be going on clearance at big chain stores

I ACTUALLY USE THIS JOFA CUP AND I THINK IT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE CUP I HAVE USED BY FAR!

EBAY

yeah, i've been using the jofa for a couple years and don't plan to switch any time soon. i actually got cup-checked pretty hard last week by some d-bag with no ill effects, thankfully.

the ebay sales are kinda weird though, as i saw a USED one go for $50 a while back, when new ones are available online for $20 or so (this isn't directed at you, looks like you got a good deal).

FYI to anyone else, you can find them on other sites, despite the 'major' etailers not having them. i think i got mine from hockey central's online site, i think it's hockeyone or hockey1 (can't remember)
