Indoor volleyball is one intense sport .

I've been watching a lot of indoor volleyball during the Olympics, i loved how Radio-Canada showed a lot of it even though i'm not sure if Canada had a qualified team.

I fell in love with the sport. It's intense, physical, breathtaking. Power players/passers/blockers. 120 kph serves. Some rallies are eye candy. We don't get to hear about volleyball much in non-Olympic times which are the next 47 months.

I watched the men's final yesterday night. USA vs Brazil. Big win and gold medal for the Americans; Brazil are #1 in the world and were favorites. Where do all those guys play after the Olympics?

Anybody else like volleyball?

It was the best part of the Olympics IMHO. Don't follow it at all, but I loved every minute of the USA/BRA match. I do know that it is gaining a lot of popularity in NY along with lacrosse. I guess it is what happens to everyone who gets cut from the basketball team! (Just kidding!)

During the US-Russia semifinal, they said the players on both teams know each other well because many of them play in Russian professional leagues.

It's not quite at the level of the company picnic's volleyball, though, is it?

I always try to follow it on the national and collegiate level as Lloy Ball is from my hometown. Also, his father Arnie Ball coaches the D1 team at the university I currently attend. They are very good, national championship runner ups and actually recruit guys from Brazil and South America so I'm sure all the guys know one another quite well.

Going to watch the games live is nuts though. There is quite a larger following than people would think until they come out to a college game and see it in person. It truly is becoming a great sport to watch and watching how hard those guys hit the ball, no way in hell I'd ever try my luck standing in front of one of those kills.

I play pickup with my high school buddies all the time. 6 of them played at least varsity in high school and the rest played somewhat competitively one way or another. I get kinda scared with them, can't imagine what Olympic or pro level is like. Once you play like that, the stuff in the backyard, gym class or whatever seems realllllly lame.

I used to play volleyball in middle-school. It is intense when you start playing with older guys.. getting spiked in the face hurts a little too. The last time I played volleyball one of my buddies went to jump-serve and nailed me in the side of the face. So that was that.

I play volleyball. Used to play for a club team a few years back, East Coast championships and Junior Olympics and such. Its funny, cause its the one sport where no matter how athletic you are, it takes a while to get good. gym volleyball was one of the most boring expierences of my life. lol its not often when u can step into a room and know your better than everyone else and know more than the instructor. Theres so much about the sport that no one knows about. So many attack patterns, serve strategies, defensive positioning. Theres nothing in the world like packing someone in the chest down the line. lol
