graf 735 vs. 703

Recommended Posts

is one deeper than the other? the website says narrow heel/moderate depth for the 735 and medium depth/regular width for the 703. they use moderate and medium in two separate descriptions. confusing.

my take on this would be: (based on discriptions from sales rep a few years ago)

703 - narrowest heel, shallowest heel in Graf line

735 - slightly wider heel, still quite narrow though, with a deeper heel but by no means as deep as the 709 line.

Isn't the x35 models shaped closer to an Easton fit, where as the 703 is your basic narrow is narrow is narrow skate all around?

Here's another one:

703-narrow heel standard foorefoot shallow depth

705-standard heel standard forefoot medium depth

707-wide heel, narrow forefoot with a deep depth-boot provides optimum flexibility

709-wide heel wide forefoot with a very deep ankle depth

727-wide heel wide forefoot with deep depth

735-narrow heel wide forefoot standard depth(both available in t-blade or cobra now)

I always though 735's were like Vapors, narrow heel and wide forefoot. At least, that's how my foot's shaped and Vapors are the only skates that fit me. And 703's were supposed to be very narrow.

thanks. i have seen that chart and do find it confusing sometimes. what the hell is a pronounced heel? does the graf brannock have the heel widths on it?

They are refering to how upright or forward leaning the back of the boot is.

The more forward leaning, the more pronounced the heel is.

thanks. that makes sense now. is there a way to measure an arch besides pencil test, or do you just have to try them on?

The pencil test is to measure if the depth of the skate is correct.

I had the 735 for a brief period and found them to not be stiff enough laterally (when compared with my previous skates, which were from the last generation Vapor line).

That said, I weigh about 190 lbs, so at 160 lbs you might find them to your liking.
