Graf Tongues : felt VS the "new" black tongues - LACE BITE

Recommended Posts

if you have lace bite, id try the big black tongue for sure.

the white tongues feel a lot better for me personally.

the black tongue was on a few of the supra series so im assuming its not just new.

I have a problem with lace bite, is the old school white felt tongue better, or the new black ones for the GRAF ULTRA series?

the shorter black tongues are monsters, wench it up with your F150 and you still wont have issues. cant speak from experience for the white felts though, but the blacks ones are near impossible to get bite from

i am a little confused, because i heard that the black tongues were introduced within the last few seasons... and players had a problem with lace bite with the black ones...

so this year, graf went back to the white felt and are not even making the black ones anymore... does this sound right?

i know the black tongues are thicker, but i was told the players were getting lace bite from the black ones because of the "pattern" thats on the tongue.

And several people who I know tore through them real quick.

I have tried both tongues.. we get custom skates through our league and deal directly with the pro rep. In my opinion the white tongues are better, I started with the black tongues in my custom G35's but switched back to a double stitched and stuffed white tongues as recommended by the pro rep. Have't had a problem with lace bite since.

i have a pair of one90's 10.5 and am thinking of changeing out the stock tongues for graf tongues, im doing this because i have had lacebite in the past and has left scars on my feet and the lace bite is coming back... so what length should i order the tongues in at? thanks :)

Newest Graf 7xx and G-series skates all come with the white felt tongue.

Actually, have a couple of pairs of newest 705s come in with a black felt tongue (Identical to the white one apart from the color)

I've had my 705's for about 7 or 8 years now with the white felt and I've never had an issue w/ lace bite regardless how tight I tie them. I had Bauer Supreme 2000's before that (that's going back a while when they were a top end skate) and I used to have some minor issues w/ lace bite from time to time which i completely forgot about until I saw this thread.
