Wide Shin Guards

Recommended Posts

I currently wear Jofa 8040 14" shin guards and they are pretty much beat up. I'm looking for a replacement, but want a wider guard. I have no preference as to what brand. I just want something that is comfy and wide (but not too bulky). Could someone give me some suggestions?

Itech makes the widest fitting shin guards I've ever tried on. Assuming you're talking about the interior width and not the exterior width.

I'm talking about exterior width. I probably should have specified in the first post, sorry.

It looks like RBK is the way to go. I will look into them.

Thanks guys.

Just heat up whatever pads you get and bend them out.

do you have tips on the best way to do this without melting the plastic? I wear a 13 inch shin pad but most companies consider those to be junior size so they're very narrow. I don't have junior size shins so the pads end up sitting awkwardly on my legs.

use a heat gun and always keep the source of the heat moving. Heat it slowly and then start to gently push the sides out. Trying to bend it while too cold or too fast will result in breakage. Bauer used to do 13" seniors, a buddy of mine would only buy their stuff because of it.

Don't know if this is pertinent, but the Bauer One90 and Supreme70 shins run small. I'm about a 13.5" and the 14" One90's fit great. But they're pretty slim and narrow. I seem to recall RBK had 13.5" shins that also fit well, and they were much wider.
