Trying to buy tickets

Recommended Posts

So I'm living in Philly, might as well go see a Flyers game.

To those in the area who know about buying tickets- how early before the game do they go on sale? Is there a better method than using the Wachovia page, going through the Flyers, TicketMaster, etc? Do the games usually sell out?

Does Wachovia have a good parking structure? What's the best parking option?

I've only been to an NHL game in Joe Louis Arena (Red Wings). Are the upper bowl seats good? Don't know if the ~$90 seats on the lower level are worth it over the $40-60 upper level. Is there a certain side that has better access or shops?

Is there a game-used equipment shop in Wachovia? If so, are the prices good? The Wings were selling sticks for $100-500 and gloves for $400 or some ungodly amount.

I'd be looking to get maybe 5 tickets for me and co-workers.

Thanks fellas.

The Wachovia Center site is usually pretty decent with tickets. I know that single game tickets go on sale there some time this week or early next week. Being a season ticket holder one of the new items I'm a fan of is the ticket exchange on the Flyers website where season ticket holders can put up their tickets for sale, very similar to a StubHub. I know quite a few of my tickets will be going up there this year.

In terms of ticket availability / location, the Flyers do sell out the majority of games, but even when games are "Sold Out" at the box office there are a number of ways to find tickets. For location, I sit in the lower level and personally prefer the area about 8-12 rows up from the ice. I couldn't really tell you how different it would be sitting in the lower part of the upper level vs. the upper part of the lower level. I would suggest avoiding the very top of the u pper level though, as the way the building is arranged, those seats to seem pretty far from the ice surface.

There is no game-used equipment shop, but they do have several fan stores throughout the concourses. Also, both the lower and upper levels have dedicated concourses so getting around is pretty easy.

As for parking, the Wachoiva Center, Citizens Bank Park, and Lincoln Financial Field are all part of the same complex that share a number of large street-level parking lots. Generally most people will park in one of those. I forget what parking was at the Center last year but I know the nearby lots are usually between $8 and $12. Hope that helps.

My family shares 12 tickets a game to go, through my dads business with his brothers and usually the Flyers are very good with dealing with ticket sales. I know numerous people who walk up and just buy tickets and I really think there isn't a bad ticket in the place. Tickets got hiked up a bit this year but oh well. Parking is actually very very good since there are two/three (if you want to count the spectrum) that you can park at and not have to worry that the Phillies or Eaglers will be playing there at the same time (except when the flyers are in the playoffs and the phillies open their season, which you most likely won't have to worry about). But craigslist or even the flyers message board works wonders sometimes.

And Shooter there is a place on the main concourse level where they sell games used equipment. There are some skates, gloves, helmets and tons of sticks to choose from but they usually sell for a pretty penny. I believe sticks were in the $150-$400 price range depending on who you want. They had signed practice jersey's and stuff too.

They do sell that stuff? I guess I haven't really walked into any of those Fan Zone stores in a long long time.

Thanks for the replies. I probably won't try craigslist, we're trying to get a batch of 4-6 tickets.

I'll see how much people want to spend, hopefully $60 or 90 seats. Looks like we need to move and get the tix early next week already? Or do they take until game day to sell out?

Depends on the opponent, day of week, etc. I would guess they would sell out a bunch of the early games this year in advance (riding the momentum from the playoffs last year), but you never know.

2nd regular season vs the Habs. I'm shooting for Tuesday next week to get everything set up.

I would try to go to the venue/ticket office and see if there is anything that will fit your list.

If not I would just go on ticketmaster/ticketexchange and buy them there. At least you know you are getting real tickets and they are authorized.

Well, since the game is the 2nd home game of the year, against a team they played in the playoffs last year, and is on a holiday (Columbus Day), I would guess it would probably sell out so I think your idea of early next week is probably a good one. Good luck.

For the B's, individual game tickets already went on sale. I'd say if you're looking at a preferred game early in the season you may already be out of luck unless you want to pay 2-3 times face value.

Just FYI - I double checked the Flyers website, regular season single-game tickets go on sale tomorrow morning (Saturday, 9/20) at 10am. If you really want to go to that game I'd suggest trying to get tickets tomorrow morning.

Well shit. I didn't think games sold out that fast. It's almost a month away. I guess I've never really bought tickets, all the games I've gone to were given to me.

The Habs were the best team to see at home before December... I was looking at the Islanders close to my birthday, who knows what will happen. One of my coworkers who is from Quebec only wanted to go if everyone was going to the Habs game.

Not sure if you checked the website or not, but as of right now I believe there are still tickets available for that game. If you really want to go to just that game and it is sold out you can always get tickets on the secondary market.

Yeah. I don't have the cash to buy everyone's tickets, or a number of how many people want to go right now anyway. If they sell out by Tuesday then tough noogies, eh? And Lang is with the Habs now :(

Might try to snag some Pens for mid-December, or Islanders on my birthday as backup options. Then it's all free NCAA D1 games when I get back to school next semester ;)

Got 6 tickets today, now I just have to make sure they ship them here and not to Michigan. I went through, filled out a billing and seperate shipping address, and my receipt says they will ship to my billing address....

Is it bad I'm more excited to see the Habs than the Flyers?

so, this is my story....

I wish to buy tickets of when the Miami Heat come in town to face the Raptors (NBA). The date is Feb16, however, i've never bought tickets online, so i am unsure how to go about it. I was on ticketmaster, but can't buy the single game, but season tickets so far. Is there a certain link i should be clicking on, or do I have to wait for a certain time frame before single game tickets go on sale?

thx
