stick wax

Recommended Posts

I was never a fan of top shelf, even before it was an Easton product. It always came off in globs and chunks, more so than Zogs.

I have a lump of some sort of stick wax that I have been using recently but it's so old that I don't know who it's made by.

I do use Top Shelf some times and I've found that if you put it in the freezer while you're taping up the stick (about 5 minutes or so) it doesn't clump up when you put it on.

yea i just leave my top shelf wax in my bag during the winter so its cold when i put it on and it doesn't glob up. then i rub it in with a puck on the ice before the game or practice starts

I have just unwrapped some 3 yr old Zog's wax and it's OK. I kept it out of the sun.

i like to use wax more for the stickyness it adds to my tape job. i've never really had issues with tape getting wet, but i do love the extra spin i get on my passes etc when i use sex wax, the hockey formula. i've tried snap wax before too, its kind of pricey though, but also very sticky. i tape my stick before every game, so i dont get too worried about my tape tob falling apart, or i just get a new stick if its messed up. in terms of using wax for more grip on a tape job i think candle/ paro wax isnt quite as good, it actually makes the tape more slippery. a sticky wax also helps me with dangles and pull backs!

I have a question that can fall under this topic.

I have heard of people Putting Babby powder on there tape and then "beating" it into the tape instead of wax and I was just wondering what does? Is it just the same as wax? or does it even do anything?

Mr Zoggs

You can also buy from places like ewh if you need other stuff besides wax. BTW ewh also sells andover tape which, in my opinion, is by far the best hockey (cloth) tape you can buy.
