I have the shoulders, elbows and shins and they're great. The elbows may seem a bit bulky when you first try them on but I don't really notice it when im on the ice. I received a couple of good hits and blocked 4 shots yesterday didn't hurt at all where as if it had been my old gear I would have had a couple of bruises haha. I would definetley recommend them.

Vapor XXXX protective is totally different than Pro Lightspeed protective. I use the XXXX shoulder pads. They are comfortable, lightweight, and fit close to the body. The Pro Lightspeed gear is very protective(well padded and too bulky for me) so if you are playing high impact hockey that may be the protective line to wear for your game. A defenceman might want Pro Lightspeed while a forward may prefer Vapor XXXX. They are two different styles of protection.

More protective? Yes, I would agree. Substantially more so? I do not think so; I found both to be decently protective, but in different areas of the body it seemed. After debating between the two for quite some time I felt the Pro Lightspeed had more substantive purpose while the XXXX, while nice, had more marketing gimmicks and less to offer towards the end goal of protective gear. Both offer less protection than I prefer but that could be attributed to my play / the people I play with. Both are very lightweight (currently using 9K and came from some Douglas Defenders). If the Pro LS had the little chest strap channel slots the XXXX has as well as a thicker chest / sternum plate, it would undoubtedly be my choice for high-end protection that is very lightweight and mobile. All in all though, you cannot go wrong with either. Later,

Matching should be the last thing your worried about! I have xxxx shins skates and stick and I have tried the elbows and shoulders. Shins are great for skinny legs but if you have big legs you might want rbk 9k or ccm. Elbows didnt fit me well, I was between small and medium. I have S17s and love them. Shoulders were fitted to and didnt like them I went farrel. What im saying here is you need to try it all on and see what fits and what dont. In my experince xxxx is for thinner people and if your big 9k stuff is all great.

the xxxx shoulders fit me great. best shoulders i've ever had.

but the shins are another story, if you have bulky legs do not get them. (i couldnt even get the straps to the things you attach to) LOL

You must have some really big legs because the XXXX shins fit me and I've had one90 shins for a while and my calves are over 18" around, unflexed.
